The Secret of How To Pick The Perfect Dooney And Bourke

When I went to the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival, I  spent a lot of time examining the new Dooney and Bourke bags made exclusively for the festival. They were exquisite.  I saw a huge difference in the pattern on these particular bags and I thought it might be time to share the secret of how to pick the perfect Dooney and Bourke bag with you!

Pattern placement can be personal, for example if your favorite character is on the bag and you would like him/her front and center. In general, someone who is shopping with pattern placement in mind is consciously examining the bag for symmetry and balance. You want to make sure the characters are in balance with the Dooney and Bourke logo, the handles, etc. some people prefer that no heads are cut off at the top of the bag, and some prefer a perfect symmetry over the logo. Unfortunately you often can’t “have it all”, but that’s what makes every bag unique!

These are examples of great placement. See how the characters aren’t cut off? I even was able to find bags that focused on Figment and Minnie on the front more so than other characters. That’s obviously the route I went, as I love them both.

Look at the above three bags… it’s a blood bath of decapitation!! Where is everyone’s head? On each of the above 3 bags, there are too many faces missing and poor placement is beyond obvious. Had you ever even really thought of this? It’s fantastic that each and every Dooney and Bourke bag is unique but it is not fantastic that many of the bags have such poor placement.
If you are unable to go and look at each bag individually yourself, and are thinking about ordering online, remember that the Disney Store or Shop Disney Parks App is not going to look at placement for you. They don’t have time for that. In order to order online and get the placement you want, you need to order multiples and return the ones you don’t like. I know that this seems crazy, and I would never have thought of it (I always wait till I am there in person) but many Dooney and Bourke fans do this! If you are willing to wait, or would prefer to have someone else get it for you, make sure you know the placement you want.
