The first Disney princess was created in 1937 when Walt Disney turned one of the Brothers Grimm fairy tales into a movie sensation. Turning Sneewittchen into Snow White was one of Walt Disney’s most significant accomplishments.
Since then, Disney has created many princesses. There are thirteen official Disney princesses. They include; Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), Ariel (The Little Mermaid), Belle (Beauty and the Beast), Jasmine (Aladdin), Pocahontas, Mulan, Tiana (The Princess and the Frog), Rapunzel (Tangled), Merida (Brave), Moana, and Raya. However, Kida (Atlantis) and Elsa and Anna (Frozen) should definitely be added to that list!
Dressing like a Disney princess is every little girl’s dream. Still, some of our favorite celebrities have recently taken to the red carpet with looks inspired by their inner Disney princesses, and we love every minute of it. Below are our ten favorite looks:
Doja Cat’s stylist created the perfect look for her when she dressed as Princess Kida from Atlantis for her October birthday. Her outfit made us want to ensure Atlantis is never the lost city again.
Keira Knightly let her locks flow like our favorite long-haired princess Rapunzel. She recreated her purple dress by removing the sleeves and adding a bit of sparkle to create a classic and timeless look.
Leave it to Nicki Minaj to spice up Anna’s green dress from Frozen. Her pink hair, paired with some black stilettos instead of Anna’s classic boots, was the perfect way to add her style and still resemble the inspiring heroine.
One of the best parts of dressing like a Disney princess is your hair doesn’t have to match, just your attitude. Zooey Deschanel as Elsa from Frozen is the perfect example of taking a princess style and making it your own in the best way.
Rhianna received mixed emotions when she wore a vibrant pink dress designed by Giambattista Valli. All we could see is a modern-day Sleeping Beauty that any prince would fall in love with after one night.
In 2016, Alicia Vikander wowed in a beautiful yellow dress with shimmering earrings and heels. Her look made us all want to sit down and rewatch Beauty and the Beast for the 50th time.
There are a few things that Chrissy Teagan and Tiana from Princess and the Frog have in common. We love them; they look amazing in green, and they both found their prince.
In 2017, Serena Williams and Versace created satin perfection by creating the most beautiful sea green gown fit for a princess that will one day be a queen (though, let’s be honest, they are both queens in our eyes).
We would expect nothing less of Blake Lively than for her to become one of our favorite Disney princesses, Cinderella, flawlessly. Vivienne Westwood designed her blue ball gown and brought a modern look to the classic fairy tale.
Last but definitely not least, fierce Zendaya was inspired by the powerful Merida from Brave. Their rich, flowing red hair and deep green fabrics will leave an impression for decades.
You can look like a Disney Princess too!
Select your favorite princess and her favorite style, and aim to match the dress’s color. Don’t get hung up on the details of matching it perfectly. Then, style with one or two essential items that tie it in with the theme, such as a clear glass-like shoe for Cinderella or a turquoise necklace for Pocahontas and viola! You are a beautiful princess too.
