When I first heard a Pinocchio dress was being released, I have to admit I had a little trepidation. Imagining his bright yellow shirt, blue bow tie and red shorts and wondering how it translates into an elegant dress. Not sure what to expect, I have to say I’m pleasantly surprised. Dainty Pinocchio Dress Captures Old World Charm!
Instead of brightly colored pieces, the Pinocchio-inspired dress offers muted colors on the peasant style dress. There is nothing boyish about this dress! Beautiful, blue satin ribbon crisscross to create a faux corset upon the torso. Other feminine accents include lace trim, bustier neckline and flutter sleeves. Can’t you imagine the alpine wind whipping through the sleeves?
The thick decorative stripe of the fabric is fashioned after the trim on Pinocchio’s shorts. Find the real boy himself marching along the blue and pink pinstripes. The feminine dress draws in at the waist for an hourglass look and then flares out with a ruffled hem with scalloped lace trim. If you’re wondering, this dress does not contain a crinoline, but the design does include a slip skirt. I’m thinking very lightweight for summer.
