There is so much to do and see aboard a Disney Cruise ship. You can play as much as you want or rest to your heart’s content. How active you are depends on what you’re looking for. Since I have an active job, typically when we vacation I’m all about lying in a lounge chair and reading a book…unless it’s Disney, of course. Meanwhile, since my husband sits at a computer all day, he wants to run around and see ALL THE THINGS. There is a happy compromise aboard the latest class of Disney cruise ships, and I’ll tell you where! Discover all that Destiny has to offer in the Grand Atrium.

The Grand Atrium is the heart and soul of the ship. Think of it as a nautical living room of your floating home for the time you’re aboard the cruise. So many activities occur here! The Imagineers for the Destiny chose a Wakanda and Black Panther theme for this space. Notice the details from the carpet to the stage, and even the balcony and chandelier.

For a list of specific activities relating to your sailing, make sure you check the Navigator app.
Entertainment

First and foremost, the atrium is the main location to gather to hear the comedic storytelling of Zayah and Gamble. They are two of the adult performers and activity hosts aboard the Destiny. If you’ve sailed the Treasure, then they are the equivalent of Sage and Coriander. We thoroughly enjoyed hearing them paraphrase and act out iconic Disney stories. Cruella also held her fashion show in the Grand Atrium, where guests showed off their best Princess Bounds and Cruella Couture.
Photo Opportunities

As you noticed in the first section above, this section of the ship is absolutely stunning, and it’s the perfect location to take photos. In fact, it’s the exact area where the professional photos are set up every night. You’ll find 3 backdrops set up, flanking the Grand Hall, but certain nights they also take photos on the Grand Staircase and next to the Black Panther Statue. As we sailed around Christmas, the Merrytime decor was too festive to pass up a photo with!
Character Meet and Greets

Whether you’re sailing in December with Santa, or posing with pirates Donald, Zayah and Gamble this is a great place to meet the characters. We even got to show off our custom-made Black Panther ears to the Super Hero himself!
