This year’s Mousequerade and Design Challenge put Disney fashion front, center, and on parade. Talented artists and Disney fans came together to compete for the honor of being called the ultimate Cosplayer. Oh, and they won a pretty sweet trophy and prize too.
Presented by Raw Threads, this year’s Mousequerade featured celebrity judges Ashley Eckstein and Yvette Nicole Brown. Contestants could enter to compete in several different categories – all of which highlighted their talents and passion for Disney style.
I wish I could have filmed the entire presentation but it was truly incredible, but instead, I am here to share some of my favorite costumes, cosplays, and fashions with you.
Once Upon a Costume
I was in the standby queue for this event, so I missed the first couple of fabulous fashions. But first up for me in the Once Upon a Costume category was Paige Mughannam’s take on the Fairy Godmother.
The winner of the category was Allen Waiserman for this splendid take on Lumiere! He gave his acceptance speech in full character, complete with French accent. Tres bien!
Worlds of Adventure
My personal favorite cosplay in this category came from Connor Breen. He and his partner dressed as pirate versions of the Mad Hatter and Alice. Connor was another contestant that stayed in character the entire time he was on stage.
Brianna Joseph brought out Belle’s adventurous spirit with her look called “Tale as old as time in a galaxy far, far away.”
The winner of this category was a clear favorite of both the audience and the judges. Tahirah Agbamuche’s take on Shuri from Black Panther was brilliant!
Heroes and Villains
This category was just so much fun to watch and enjoy! Filled with both heroes and villains (but mostly villains), fans took their love for these characters to the next level. There were multiple takes on Ursula, a Lady Tremaine, Maleficent, and more!
Minnie D’Moocha nailed this Lady Tremaine look! She stayed in character throughout her performance and when she was asked what was on her mind, her response was “ungrateful step daughters.”
You can’t talk about villains without mentioning Maleficent! Catherine Omer’s “Dragon Maleficent” wowed the crowd.
The audience loved Judy Demers’s “Rococo Queen of Hearts” look. The Queen also showed off a fabulous pair of shoes and said that Cinderella wasn’t the only one with great footwear. We agree!
The winner of the Heroes and Villains category went to Nyssa Sara Lee. She was the fist contestant on stage of this category and was the immediate hands down winner. Her costume was interactive, transformative, and just plain fun!
Inspired by Disney
Filled with nobs to classic Disney Parks attractions, this character was so much fun! The Haunted Mansion was a clear inspiration leader for many of the contestants and the audience was loving it.
Christine Marchese’s “Haunted Couture” dress had all the elements of the Haunted Mansion, complete with Hitchhiking Ghosts!
Continuing with the Haunted Mansion trend was “The Cat-Box Ghost” from Joey Monaco. I thought this look was such a fun mash-up between Haunted Mansion and Alice in Wonderland. What do you think?
And the winner of the category was this MARVELOUS Haunted Mansion design. Tina Elliot’s “Grim Grinning Gown” was a creation of the full Haunted Mansion ride, complete with automated and spinning Doom Buggies!

Joey Lynn Monaco says
Thank you so much for recognizing my Catbox Ghost costume! It took a lot of work to get the Hatbox working, but worth every minute. It was a great competition with many talented artists and I’m glad to have participated!
