I recently talked about the Minnie Rocks The Dots event in L.A., that I was super jealous I could not attend. Fortunately, a fellow Disney fashionista was able to be there and I asked her to share her experience with us! Don’t you want to feel like you were there, too?? Below, is the account of the Rock The Dots event from Wanda Nowell, fellow fashionista!
“When I got to the location of Rock the Dots, about an hour and a half before it opened, there were already people in line dressed to impress in Minnie Mouse attire. As noon approached, the line started to grow and you could feel the excitement from adults and a few children that happened to be there, too. It was truly an event to celebrate the fashion icon of Dots, Minnie Mouse!
From the moment you walked in, you saw the beginning of Minnie Mouse’s impact to the fashion going all the way back to the black and white all time classic, “Steamboat Willie” and, as you walked through the room, you saw Minnie Mouse’s influence grow in fashion worldwide. They had pictures of models and singers that had added a touch of Minnie, in the pictures displayed. Above it all, they had sneak peaks of the new collaborations that are set to be released this year with one that every fashionista there was in shock about…. the new Sephora line (as well as Kate Spade, Lauren Conrad and Ugg).
But it wasn’t all just art and fashion the event included some fun!! There was a Rock the Dots wall that all who wanted could write, color or doodle to their hearts content (markers were even included)!! And, of course, the oh so fun photo booth that gave you the option to send an animated version of your pictures to an email . The pictures started in black and white slowly transitioning to full color! There was a special pop up shop for those looking to score some Rock the Dots merchandise. It had a bit of everything, t-shirts, electronics, jewelry, purses and even pins. As the time passed, the crowd continued to grow both inside and out side.”
The picture I was most struck by was the above dress, by Christian Siriano! I loved him on Project Runway and I love the dress he designed for Minnie!! I think it’s kind of satirical that the event was Rock The Dots and she is wearing her other fetish… bows!
I also adore this dress and I wish I could read the description because I would ROCK this dress at my Oscar Party!!!!
Any one else get to go the Rock the Dots?? Tell us about your experience in the comment box below!!
