In a galaxy not so far away, new Star Wars products are prepped and ready for launch. Available at both the Star Wars Celebration 2017 and at select locations in Disney Parks, these new products are exactly the droids that you’ve been looking for.
Merchandise developer Cody Hampton share more insights about the products on Disney Parks Blog.
“I’ve been a Star Wars fan since I was two-years old,” explained Cody. “I feel like I have a dream role at Disney as I collaborate with the Lucasfilm team to create unique merchandise and immersive experiences you can only find at Disney Parks.”
Cody is living the dream as he has turned his passion for Star Wars into a career with Disney. He has been developing Star Wars products for Disney Parks for years. Cody helped launch the Star Wars Droid Factory experience at Disney’s Hollywood Studios back in 2012. If I had a perfect dream job scenario like Cody’s, I would love to develop Disney Princess items for the park. How amazing would it be to live in a fairy tale everyday?
This month, Cody is part of a team helping to release a boxed set with four Astromech droid action figures. The new merch is inspired by characters from the animated series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
There will also be three limited release action figures including C1-10P Chopper from Disney XD’s animated series Star Wars Rebels. In addition, a two-pack featuring R2-D2 and C-3Po will help to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Star Wars: A New Hope. To top off the new collection, a red Protocol droid, R-3DO that was briefly seen in Star Wars: The Force Awakens will roll onto shelves very soon.
“This is the first time we’ve introduced Protocol droids to the Star Wars Droid Factory collection,” continued Cody. “All of these pre-packaged figures have interchangeable parts that can be mixed and matched with action figures created at the Droid Factory.”
But if you are looking for something a little more cuddly, take out the Ewok plush named Paploo. Paploo is the 12th character from the limited release Ewok plush collection and was created especially for Star Wars Celebration 2017.
Star Wars Celebration 2017 is a Star Wars fan event coming to the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. The event takes place from April 13 -16, 2017 and select single day tickets are still available.
