One of the hardest lessons Walt Disney learned while building Disneyland was the art of secrecy. When the public found out he was buying land in Anaheim, they weren’t sure why. However, they knew it would be golden. So, others quickly purchased property, causing the future site of Disneyland to become landlocked with limited growth ability. However, the Imagineers believe it’s fun to do the impossible, and away Disneyland grows!
Disneyland Parking

As we learned at D23, and reiterated on Disney Parks Blog this week, a parking deck and transportation hub will be built on the east side of Disneyland Resort. Currently, it inhabits a parcel of land known as the Manchester cast member parking lot. Providing 6,000 parking spaces, shuttle and rideshare areas, security screening and dedicated access for traffic off of Disney Way, the structure will also be paramount in improving parking and traffic flow throughout the resort area. Pedestrians from Harbor Boulevard will now enter via a pedestrian bridge over Harbor Boulevard, leading to an all-new esplanade arrival experience.
Exciting stuff, right? All of that is just the appetizer to the main updates! Two attractions at Avengers Campus, a Coco-themed ride and an Avatar Destination, joins California Adventure!
Disneyland Attractions

I love that even though Coco was released in 2017, it’s still getting props. Not only can you enjoy a Coco dinner experience aboard the Disney Treasure, but soon you’ll be able to ride along with Miguel on a Coco-themed ride. Since it’s a Pixar movie, the ride will be located near Paradise Gardens Park and Pixar Pier, in areas that are predominantly backstage today. Construction will begin this fall.

Ironically as we said goodbye to Muppet Vision 3D this week to make room for a Monsters, Inc. expansion at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, we also learn that Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! will close in early 2026. Disney Parks Blog also commented that a portion of the current Hollywood Backlot area, along with the Mike and Sulley to the Rescue will be utilized for their Avatar destination. As sad as it will be to see Sully and Boo go, I know the new land will be stunning!
So, as Walt Disney stated, “It’s kind of fun to do the impossible.” He was always defying the odds and would be proud. And away Disneyland Grows!
