I know I normally write about fashion and travel and some of you may be wondering where new pins come in to that. I am figuring that people wear pins to the Parks and some people I know even wear a different pin depending on their wardrobe so, isn’t that in fact, fashion?? I also know people that collect and trade them very seriously and, though I certainly don’t trade mine, I do collect shoes and purses like that. One in the same. Therefore, allow me to share with you the new pins coming to Disney in 2015!
The “Piece of Disney History” collection returns this year and I, for one, could not be happier. I am all about the history of Disney and I think too many of us forget where it all started.. This collection was brought to us back in 2005, for the first time, and these limited edition pins contain actual pieces of attractions, shows, or parades from Disney Parks! This year, the “Piece of Disneyland Resort History” collection for guests in California will continue, while guests in Florida will find a continuation of the “Piece of SpectroMagic history.”
You may have noticed that for years now there have been various “pin-of-the-month” collections, which have new pins released monthly (or sometimes even quarterly) for people to collect I know a lot of people that love these pins because it’s like any other true collector. Collectors like to stay on that high of finding something new so they don’t get bored. I know, I’ve been there. This feeds the Disney pin collector’s need for new product and is quite successful. This year, the “Best Friends” collection will contain two individual pins that are perfect for sharing with your best friend. Remember those necklaces you used to be able to break the heart in half and keep half and give the other half to your best friend? It was inscribed with the words ‘Best Friend’ and was all the rage in the 1990’s. This is the newest version of that, in my opinion, but for Disney fans! I mean check out the Carl and Ellie pin above! I think that one’s my favorite. The “Wonderfully Wicked” collection showcases some of the most famous Disney villains and we all now how I feel about that. I am a huge Disney villains fan. I have a Disney villains dining room! There better be some new Cruella de Vil pins! Both of these monthly collections will be found in select locations at Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts.
Now, for people going to Florida, you will find the “Shields of Fantasy” collection. These hinged pins open to reveal Disney characters who reside in Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom Park. Above you will see the Beauty and the Beast example but think of the possibilities for this collection! There are so many fabulous rides in Fantasyland and there are a lot of newer attractions, like the Beauty and the Beast additions. I am excited to see what they come up with for all the different attractions.
With the “Generation D” collection, the count down is on to the annual Disney Trading Event that will be held in September at Epcot in Walt Disney World Resort. Each of these 13 limited edition pins will have an edition size of 500 and will be released monthly.
There are also a few surprise pins planned including a collection featuring Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” for Disneyland Resort (see above). When placed next to each other, the pins will form a complete picture. Park guests in Florida will find pins celebrating the themed lands of the Magic Kingdom Park. Both of these pin collections will be released at random times throughout the year. I think that’s part of the fun in pin trading and collecting. You never know when things are being released and you have a bit of that “thrill of the chase”.
Now, if you are headed to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, did you know about the newest Disney pin destination at Sunset Market Ranch on Sunset Boulevard. This location is now the main headquarters for all things pins inside the theme park. I had no idea this was the main destination in the Park so I am excited to be checking that out on my next visit.
Remember that new pins are usually released on Thursdays at Disney Parks. Look for one-sheets highlighting key pin releases toward the beginning of each month on the official Disney Pin Trading website – www.DisneyPins.com.

They aren’t set to release until March. They will be released and probably sell out super quickly. If you want them and can’t find them, you can put your name on the email list mentioned in the article to secure your chances from Mouse To your House.
