It is with great sorry that we bid a fond farewell to The Great Movie Ride. I still remember the first time I arrived at MGM (Yes, I still call it that in my mind) and I rode this attraction. I was in love. I love Hollywood. I love movies. This ride was everything. As much as I am looking forward to the new Mickey and Minnie attraction, I am definitely going to be bidding The Great movie Ride a fond farewell with this commemorative merchandise.
There are a lot of different options, similar to the Farewell to Wishes merchandise, that you can choose from. The question is, what interests you more? Let’s take a look at these options up close.
This is one of the tees for the attraction and this is not the annual passholder version. I like that this is red in color because it reminds me of the red carpet (which is something I think goes hand in hand with movies). These are more of a universal fit so they work for men and women. This one can be found HERE.
There is also an annual passholder version which is more neutral in color, with the dark grey background. It’s very similar to the red version with the annual passholder on the sleeve as the main different. The Farewell to Wishes shirts, between the annual passholder and non passholder, were quite different but this makes it a bit easier to choose between the 2, if you don’t want both. This shirt is available HERE.
If tee shirts aren’t your thing, perhaps an ornament is what you are after. Not to worry, they have one of those, too. The imagery is similar to the tee shirts, so the theme is continuous through out the merchandise, as it should be. I know I will be grabbing this one but it is for annual passholders. There is only one version. It would appear that these have been made a little rushed because the printing is crooked…. you are seeing that correctly, FYI. That is not just the picture. I know that many of us are addicted to collecting tumblers. This collection is no exception. There is a Tervis Great Movie Ride Tumbler and it is a great way to bring the ride with you always. You can find it HERE.
There is also a hat coming our way but they are not yet in stores. It would appear that the are just plain black with the attraction’s name. Very similar to the Farewell to Wishes hat.
So, how do you get your hands on these? They are not currently available on the Shop Disney Parks App nor are they online. I can tell you that, if this is the same as the Farewell to Wishes merchandise, it will fly off the shelves. Our preferred personal shopper, Diane at Shop Theme Parks, has you covered. She has everything listed on the site now and you can check it out HERE. If this is something you are wanting, I wouldn’t wait too long. I know that they had trouble keeping the Wishes merchandise in stock.
