To celebrate Mickey’s 90th Anniversary in 2018, MKTstudio has partnered with Disney and developed a collection of 60’s inspired vintage sweatshirts and t-shirts, with a modern touch. The new Disney x MKT Studio Fashion Collection will be available in March at MKT stores and on https://mktstudio.com/en/
MKT is a resolutely feminine brand, rooted in pop culture and inspired by the icons of cinema and music from the 60s, 70s and 80s. Mickey is a unique, timeless, universal and trans-generational character that speaks to all, and reminds each of us that a moment, a song, a cartoon, an event can bring magic to our lives. The idea of this juniors and adult collection is to play with colors and patterns and to have fun mixing sporty attire with very feminine attire.
Part of the sporty but feminine style this collection offers are the three varsity sweatshirts. These will probably even give you a little bit of a spirit jersey vibe. You’ll find these shirts with Mickey in one of his classic poses, with his hands tucked behind his back in 3 colors. White, Grey, and Red are the colors available in this style.
The white sweatshirt is much like the grey, with the only difference being the stripe colors on the sleeves. This is a soft cozy tee, that’s just begging to be worn on a nice cool leisurely day.
The red sweatshirt varies slightly from the white and grey versions. Where as the three stripes on the other 2 shirts are all the same thickness, this shirt mixes it up a bit. The top and bottom lines are both the same color, and are much thinner than the middle line. I feel like this sweatshirt has a slightly more grownup feel to it than the other 2.
I really love the retro and distressed look of these Mickey tees. These shirts read:
“The Biggest of All Stars, Playing More Theaters, Winning More Applause, Than any Other Star in Sound Pictures, MICKEY MOUSE, Presented by WALT DISNEY”
On the top and bottom of the design are little Mickey and Minnie Mouse images, styled after the original Steamboat Willie cartoon. These tees will come in a more relaxed for, or tailored fit.
Ahoy Mickey! This red and white striped Mickey shirt has a very sailor feel to me, and Mickey is definetly ready for an adventure with this pose! I really love the small details on this, like how the stripes at the end of the sleeves go in a different direction than the rest of the shirt.
Lastly we have the black and white sketch Mickey tee. This is a ringer tee, with red piping across the shoulders. The red is just a splash, but it lends a nice dimension to the shirt. This shirt is a great example of how to style a casual tee, with a dressier outfit for a casual yet chic look.
