Back in February, we announced the rumor of the Disney and Coach collaboration. At the time, there were many nay sayers. There have been numerous verifications of this rumor since then stating that there will be a collaboration and it is not very far away! These verifications are from reliable sources and probably won’t come as a massive surprise post the Kate Spade Disney collaboration news. Are you as excited as I am??
What is being said is that the Coach outlets will get the new bags, as they did with the Snoopy Collection (which was darling, btw). Higher tier stores will also get the collection. As to which stores are counted as “Higher tier”, well, I would assume the stores that bring in the most sales or are in higher end malls. There are also said to be exclusive pieces that will be available. There is a possibility of a line specific to the outlet as well, however, that was not confirmed and just noted as possibility.
What we don’t know…. we don’t know when these are set to be released exactly but employees have stated they will be available this summer. Originally, I had thought they may try to compete with the Kate Spade release but we all know that was months ago. It is clear they want to stand out on their own, which is much smarter! I would assume that the pricing could be similar for each designer or that Coach will be slightly more affordable but that’s just an assumption.
Who will be the muse for this new collection? If I had to guess, I would say Minnie Mouse because it is seemingly the year of Minnie Mouse with the whole Rock The Dots movement. How hard is it to make a collection with Minnie as the muse when it entails mostly bows and polka dots?! It would be the easy way out, though still fabulous! I know I would be in line!

My sources say that the Coach release date is June 17. Also, the muse for the collection is Mickey Mouse. The pic that I saw was of a bag that was similar to the Snoopy collection (which was adorable) and the Mickey was very modern with rather “slouchy” type clothes and quite the guilty look on his face. I’m hoping that this is not the only image of Mickey that they will be using as it is not appealing to me but possibly a younger generation? Also, they are releasing a set of hang tags and coasters. You can find the hang tags on eBay already (at twice the cost). They are of Mickey’s eyes – front view 1. both eyes open, 2. both eyes closed, 3. one eye winking, 4. side view of both eyes open.
Also, somehow I missed the Kate Spade announcement. Was there more than just the one bag?
