You may have seen them, those eye-popping hand-painted Disney Character shoes, that folks are wearing around the Parks. Some can be purchased pre-made, or can be completed by choosing specific characters and colors. Did you know you can actually work with an Artist to design a pair of custom hand-painted shoes to your specifications? I chose Gigi’s Custom Shoes & Art for my pair and they turned out amazing!
Gigi’s Custom Shoes & Art can be found on Etsy and Facebook. The Artist asked what I was looking for specifically. Since I have 10 grandchildren, I wanted to have each child’s assigned Disney Character on the shoes somehow. She asked me what Characters and sent me a couple of ideas for design and placement. I had a couple of ideas and she was able to visualize exactly what I was looking for. For example, I wanted Snow White somehow with her cottage and the significance of the Apple in there, as well. Her vision of this request turned out beautifully.
The Artist is the Owner of the site and does all of the work herself. She suggested a pair of Vans ISO 2 since I was looking for a sneaker style. Gigi can also do sandals and slip-on shoes. She works with many of the shoe brands such as Vans, Converse, and Toms. You pick the shoe, the style, the design and your shoes will truly be a custom one-of-a-kind work of art.
You may be curious as to how much a pair of hand-painted shoes will run you. The cost will vary depending on what type of design you are looking for, the style/brand of shoe you want, and how many characters you are planning to have on the shoes. Since I had 10 characters this pair cost around $100 plus the cost of the shoes. To me, they are worth every penny for the Memories that are being created when I visit the Disney Parks with my grandchildren.
When you wear your custom hand-painted shoes at the Disney Parks, you will be stopped by many people commenting on your shoes. I get comments and questions about these shoes every time I visit the Walt Disney World Resort Parks and Disney Springs.
People really love that each child in our family is assigned, or chooses, a specific Disney Character. On a recent visit two of my grand-daughters were asked, while we were standing in line, which characters they are. They responded they are Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty (Aurora) and since they were born in the same year, they are placed together on their shoe.
The Artist/Owner of Gigi’s Custom Shoes & Art has a quick response time. She is quite booked but she will give you a potential timeframe for when she can have your shoes completed. I wanted to receive them by the Summer so I could have them for the Parks by the time four of my grandchildren arrived for their Summer visit in June. The shoes were completed, and shipped to me, in May. The pictures do not do justice to the details in these shoes. From the teal and purple background colors, to the Glittery Apple and the Wishing Stars they are magnificent. You can check out Gigi’s Custom Shoes & Art on Facebook, Instagram and Etsy.
