AHHHHHH! Yes. That’s me screaming! If Day 1 of the Disney Destiny reveals bring even a snippet of what’s coming, I am in so much trouble! Here’s what we learned today!
The newest dinner show to join the Disney Cruise Line fleet is Lion King inspired! If this is anywhere near as awesome as the Frozen show (my favorite dinner show on the ships and I’m a Rapunzel girl), we are all in for a special treat!
The show, Pride Lands: Feast of The Lion King will join the ranks as a first-of-its-kind Disney dining experience, bringing the iconic songs and legendary moments of the renowned animated classic to life for your family throughout dinner.
Disney Parks Blog says this about the new dinner show, “While you dine, live musicians and storytellers will present a musical journey through “The Lion King” soundtrack, using authentic African instruments and theatrical props to represent the story and characters. From productions of “Circle of Life” and “Hakuna Matata,” to a one-of-a-kind mash-up of “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” and “Be Prepared, the show will be a musical retelling of Simba’s heroic journey to triumph over his villainous uncle and claim his rightful place as king of Pride Rock – and undoubtedly one of your most memorable meals on the high seas!”
Zazu said it best when he told Simba: “you can’t escape your destiny”… my destiny is to board the Disney Destiny to see this show!
This fashionista is DYING over the new sweet shop because it’s Edna Mode inspired! I LOVE her! The name of the shop, Edna Á La Mode Sweets, is such a brilliant play on words!
The shop is inspired by the “Auntie Edna” short film. Edna’s sewing equipment will be repurposed as sweet-making devices, another brilliant idea! I’d say the Imagineers are on the money with this idea!
There will be handmade gelato, ice cream, cookies, candies, and specialty treats served in a space full of bolts of fabric and costume models. I cannot wait to check this space out!
The rooms on the Destiny will be Hero and Villain inspired, as well. The artwork, seen above, shows a scene from Hercules, a film I adore! I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Susan Egan and telling her how much she means to me so this particular room makes my heart happy.
If you have cruised on a Disney Cruise Line ship, you know the rooms are wonderful! The Disney Destiny will offer spacious, comfortable and functional staterooms that uniquely meet the needs of your family.
I’ve never had the honor of staying in Concierge but I have been able to see the rooms because of friends who have. Concierge guests aboard the Disney Destiny will receive a premium level of dedicated service and access to exclusive areas and amenities, including a concierge lounge and private sun deck. Among the concierge staterooms and suites will be four royal suites inspired by “Hercules” and “The Incredibles,” offering accommodations (and views!) of heroic proportions.
The last of the Disney Destiny reveals today involved a couple of Cafe themes! I love my coffees on the high seas served with a Disney design on top! Just off the Grand Hall, two casual walk-up cafes will serve a mighty selection of coffee, tea, specialty beverages and snacks. You can fuel up for your heroic ventures onboard at Café Megara, a space that will pay homage to Disney Animation’s “Hercules” with a unique and vibrant “Greco disco” design, or at Café Merida, an area that will be inspired by the flame-haired heroine of Pixar’s “Brave” with its Celtic-centered design.
Well, I am ready to book my vacation! Can’t wait to see what Day 2 of the Disney Destiny reveals will include!
