Did you ever dream of being a ballerina? I did! When I was young, I would take socks, cardboard, and duct tape and make my own “pointe shoes” and dance around the living room. Unfortunately, I am not very graceful and I have absolutely no rhythm. However, I can still dream!
Every single year I would force my mother to take me to see The Nutcracker ballet. I never got sick of seeing the show year after year (my mother quickly did though!). Even though I was never a ballerina, I still love watching others dance and pursue their dreams. That’s why I am so excited for the new series coming to Disney+.
Disney+ shared the new trailer for its upcoming original six-part docu-series, “On Pointe,” from Imagine Documentaries and DCTV. The new series will debut exclusively on Disney+ on Friday, December 18, 2020. You can check out the trailer below.
“On Pointe” captures a season in New York City’s world renowned School of American Ballet (SAB). Featuring unprecedented access to one of the top youth ballet institutions in the world, the series follows the lives of the students ages 8 to 18 pursuing their dreams to become ballet dancers.
While older students from all over the country rigorously train for professional careers, younger students from New York City are put through their paces as they rehearse and perform in New York City Ballet’s holiday classic “George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker®” onstage at Lincoln Center.
The series is produced by Imagine Documentaries and DCTV, with Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, Sara Bernstein and Justin Wilkes executive producing from Imagine Entertainment; Matthew O’Neill serves as executive producer from DCTV. Directed and produced by Larissa Bills, “On Pointe” premieres Friday, December 18, with all episodes streaming only on Disney+.
Will you be checking out this new docu-series from Disney+? I will be vicariously living out my ballet dreams while I watch from my couch!
