Another major fashion house has teamed up with Disney to create a magical collection based on beloved characters. This time, Gucci is stepping up to the plate with a Three Little Pigs collection.
Gucci is celebrating the Year of the Pig with a 35-piece (wow!) collection just in time for the Chinese New Year. The collection includes ready-to-wear women’s and men’s fashion, luggage, small leather goods, shoes, jewelry, and accessories, all featuring the Three Little Pigs.
Okay, to be honest, I had no idea Disney owned the Three Little Pigs. Clearly, this cartoon was not a part of my childhood viewing or nostalgia. However, doing some quick research, I found that in fact, The Three Little Pigs 9-minute cartoon short was a part of Walt Disney’s Silly Symphonies. Even as a card-carrying Disney fanatic, I still learn something new every day!
The collection officially launches on February 5th, the start of the Chinese New Year. However, items are already available online through Gucci’s website. Okay, now before you huff and puff and blow my house down, let’s take a look at some of the new pieces.
First, taking another look at the campaign promotional shot, my first big and burning question is, is that a Motorola Razr phone?! Gucci must have hit eBay hard for that prop! My second question is, where can I get a pig that cute to call my own?
But in all seriousness, the two Gucci bags are what really stand out in this campaign. There are two different silhouettes, both featuring a classic Gucci print. Added to the bags, almost like a patch, is the classic animation drawings of The Three Little Pigs.
The cost for the tote bag is a mere $1,980, while the backpack will set you back $1,690.
For me, the two other stand-out pieces in this collection are the Three Little Pigs Sweatshirt ($1,100) and the Three Little Pigs ACE sneaker ($670). However, there are plenty of items to choose from if you’re budget is unlimited.
This Three Little Pigs Gucci collection is a little too rich for my blood. I think I’ll definitely save my credit card bill for the new Rock the Dots collection instead. But what do you think of the new Gucci line? Let me know in the comment section below.
