When we heard that the Animal Kingdom was adding more holiday magic to the park this season, I had no idea what I was in for. I had the pleasure of experiencing it on Sunday and now I am already planning my next trip back!
From the decor to the character greetings to the Merry Menagerie experience, there is literally so much yuletide fun to enjoy! The decor is so intricate, I didn’t even notice it at first!
When you walk into the Animal Kingdom, you are so taken with the Tree of Life that you might miss the holiday decor. After you’ve stared in wonder at the tree, take a closer look around. The luminaries are exquisite and are really a secret gem. There are tons of luminaries in the shapes of different animals. They really pop at night but are still beautiful during the day.
Around the Park, you will notice little nuances like a dinosaur turned into a reindeer in Dinoland or a very colorful garland hanging in Asia.
There is also this stunning wall as you enter Pandora, right near Tiffins. This wall ties together a lot of the holiday magic the park is celebrating. You may wonder what the white animals are from. Let me introduce you to the Merry Menagerie!
The Merry Menagerie takes place in the courtyard in front of the Tree of Life through out the day. there are reindeer, an arctic wolf (it could be a fox… it’s adorable regardless), a seal and birds. There is even a violinist! The costumes are exquisite but the puppets…. the detail is amazing! I plan to hang out in the courtyard just to see this multiple times when I go back!
Here is a live video in case you want a better idea of what I am talking about.
The character greetings are spectacular! My favorite is Daisy Duck’s area. She has her board with all of her fashionable designs and everything is hot pink! At night, even the trees light up with hot pink lights! It felt very Sex and the City. I need all that decor at my house!
Donald isn’t dressed in holiday garb but he has Christmas trees! Mickey and Minnie do have a touch of the holiday season, though.
Of course, Chip and Dale are dressed as dinosaurs in Dinoland USA but they also have a holiday touch! Chip has antlers and Dale has holiday lights on his head. They are so fun to interact with!
The Tree of Life has a special nighttime spectacular this year. Think Hollywood Studios and the Tower of Terror but on the Tree of Life. The above video walks you through all of the holiday fun and at the end it shows part of the new nighttime spectacular.
All I can tell you is that the Animal Kingdom just a major dose of holiday magic and I cannot wait to go back! Have you seen all the new holiday festivities at the Animal Kingdom?
