Those of us in the United States typically think of Disney World and Disneyland when we are considering booking Disney vacations. As far as bags go, there are dedicated sections of multiple stores at those properties that offer a decent variety of sizes and prints from Dooney and Bourke’s collaboration with Disney. Across the world in Hong Kong Disneyland, Dooney and Bourke released a design celebrating the tenth anniversary of the resort.
The print is playful, with colorful swirls, crowns, trains, carousel horses, Mickey balloons, and the Hong Kong Disneyland castle. Mickey appears looking artsy and Minnie shows off her bow on both her headpiece and shoes. This bag is white pebble leather with tan leather corners, handle, and shoulder trap. The print has each feature in light green, orange, yellow, light and dark blues, and purple, keeping it subtly Disney and lighthearted without drawing too much attention. This is bag allows you to bring Disney fun with you to the office while still looking professional. It was released in satchel, Kristen tote, and zip wristlet styles.
Prior to this print, Hong Kong Disneyland had exclusive Dooney and Bourke bags with the classic Disney sketch pattern. The Taylor tote, large shopper, zip wristlet, and small tassel tote were available in that print. The difference between this sketch print and the others is the banner. The Disney World and Disneyland bags have those park names written on the banner. Only sketch bags purchased at Hong Kong Disneyland have a banner promoting that park.
The anniversary bags will be available at the Hong Kong resort through the end of the celebration. The sketch print with Hong Kong banner was discontinued in 2015. The Hong Kong sketch bags are a must for collectors, as are other overseas Dooney and Bourke bags. The tenth anniversary print was created keeping Disney fun in mind and allowing buyers to easily carry them all over the world without there being too much “Hong Kong”. A balance between fun and serious is difficult to achieve, and this print manages to give you both. If you have a chance to get over to Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, I recommend picking up at least one of these beautiful bags.
