There’s not much time before Halloween is here, but what to wear? Never fear we have some easy DIY Disney costume ideas for you, and your friends!
It happens to all of us. Sometimes ,we just get stumped on what to wear, even for Halloween. Sometimes last minute plans come up, or you decide you want to coordinate with friends. No matter the reason, we’ve got you covered. Here are some fun and simple Disney inspired costume ideas that you can piece together from your own closet, or a few items from your local shopping mall. Think Disneybounding, with a little extra added to make it pop.
Daisy’s adorable nieces April, May and June make a fun costume to wear with girlfriends to a party, hanging out or even the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party! Each gal choose who will be who, and pick out a solid colored top that matches your chosen Ducky. Pair with a white skirt, shorts or even tutu with a pair of yellow tights underneath, and then slip on a pair of matching shoes! For the finishing touch, add a colored ribbon to your hair, some duck bill orange lipstick and some fake lashes to make this adorable look complete. Remember to have fun with it, you can even grab a cute brightly colored purse to match with.
Villains are all the rage this year, and this idea can be done with as few or as many friends as you like! Cruella De Vil is a surprisingly easy costume to pull together. A long white coat, with a simple “little black dress”, and simple red heels will have you looking and feeling like the dark lady of fashion in no time! For the hair, you can use Halloween Hair Sprays, clip black ribbons on one side, and white ribbons on the other, or get a 2-tone colored hat. Party city also has a fabulous Cruella wig here. For the rest of the crew, spots are the fashionable way to go! A black and white polka dotted or spotted shirt paired with white pants, and black shoes will get your darling puppies started. Top it off with a pair of puppy ears, which are easy to find this time of year, and paint on some puppy noses with whiskers. Your group is sure to get oohs and ahhs with this pulled together idea.
One of my favorite ideas for a larger group of friends is “The Lost Boys”. This one is INCREDIBLY easy. Animal ears are easy to find at costume shops and even big box stores this time of year. Once everyone chooses who they want to be, and get’s their ears it’s just a matter of finding colors that match. To have even more fun, find animal tails to pin on, or make them with some fleece and hot glue! For Slightly who is dressed as a fox, you can even use brown cat ears. Just find a rust or burnt orange colored sweater or top, and you’re good to go. Nibs is the bunny, a simple beige or cream outfit will do the trick. The twins wear purple raccoon outfits, I found a cute pair of grey and black fox ears to pair with a purple dress. I thought it looked quite darling! The quiet Tootles is easily done with a set of black cat ears, a white cami and open black cardigan to give the “skunk stripe” look. Try wearing your hair back in a pony with long white ribbons to get a simple but stylish take on the skunk’s back stripe. Last but most certainly not least we have our famous Cubby. The adorable brown bear costume is a cozy DIY of brown clothes, and round chocolate colored ears. Of course adding Peter, Wendy, Tink and Captain Hook costumes to this assortment will give plenty of options for a large group of friends or family.
Of course, sometimes all you need is a couples costume, but everyone does Mickey and Minnie! I always like to be a little unique so why not Donald and Daisy? Pull this look together by borrowing on the same ideas as April, May and June, using solid colored tops, with white bottoms and yellow tights. Accessories make the costume stand out with Donald’s red bow tie and blue beret, and Daisy’s purple bow and pony tail. If you aren’t into face painting or make up, you can always pick up a duck bill at your local party store.
Inside Out costumes are bound to be popular this year. We’ve already Disneybounded with Joy, Sadness, Disgust and Anger, but we never got to Fear. The hardest thing to find for Fear would probably be a houndstooth shirt, but you can find a nice collection of them on amazon. Some deep blue pants, black shoes and of course a red bow tie bring all the elements together for a fearless ensemble. A bit of purple dusting powder or body glitter will make other purple with envy! Going as a group? Be sure to check out the other Inside Out Disneybounds. Joy has been one of our most popular looks to date!
Lastly, in that super pinch never underestimate the power of Minnie Mouse ears! Do like me, and slide on your favorite pair, glam up your make up and wear your cutest party dress to wow them all! This has been an especially great fall back costume for a last minute work dress up day!
Of course you can always Disneybound as a classic princess like Ariel, Belle or Cinderella. Or even a naughty villain like Ursula or The Queen of Hearts.
Who will you be going as this Halloween? We would love to see your DIY Disney costumes!!
