I can’t believe that it has been a week since I disembarked the Disney Wish. I am still thinking about all the amazing entertainment opportunities that were offered onboard. From Broadway-style shows to character interactions, there is never a dull moment aboard the Disney Wish!
I am going to attempt to break down all the great entertainment features that the Disney Fashionistas experienced onboard. However, just being on the ship is an experience in itself and there is something waiting to be discovered around every corner.
First, when I think of entertainment opportunities with Disney Cruise Line, the first thing that comes to mind is the amazing Broadway-style shows. During the Maiden Voyage, we had the opportunity to see two different shows, and both were brilliant! Located inside the Walt Disney Theater, Guests are sure to sit back, relax, and enjoy the show.
Seas the Adventure
The first show we experienced onboard was Seas the Adventure. This is a new show, exclusive to the Disney Wish, and was a magical way to kick off the cruise. Without any spoilers, Captain Minnie hands the wheel over to Goofy and he steers the audience through a magical adventure of fun and fantasy. Guests are able to see so many of their favorite characters in this show, which keeps the audience cheering throughout the 30 minute production.
Disney Cruise Line did an amazing job of making Goofy the lead of this production. He is fun, relatable, inspiring, and of course, totally Goofy!
After the show, Captain Minnie and Goofy were outside the theater to meet and greet with Guests.
As an added bonus, we had a bit of Pixie Dust and were able to meet with Cruise Director Ashley after the show! She spoke with us about the inspiration for Seas the Adventure, and why this show is a bit shorter than other Disney Cruise Line productions.
As this is the show that Guests will see during their first night aboard the Disney Wish, Disney Cruise Line realized that Guests are tired on that first day! After boarding the ship, exploring everything at record speed, unpacking in your room, and enjoying dinner – both kids and adults are sometimes too tired to fully enjoy a 60-minute performance. Therefore, Seas the Adventure allows for a fun-packed experience in half the time.
The Little Mermaid
The Little Mermaid is another brand-new production created for the Disney Wish. Before the show even starts, there are some amazing projections on the stage. I loved watching the waves lap against the treasure chest, surrounded by seaside soundscapes, as other Guests took their seats. As there is no photography or video recordings allowed during the shows, you are just going to have to take my word when I say this show is a great twist on the classic story.
We all know the story of Ariel, Flounder, Sebastian, King Triton, Ursula, and Prince Eric. During this production, Guests are treated to the beloved story, with a few fun updates. But don’t worry, you still get to sing along with all your favorite songs!
Aladdin
There is a third Broadway-style show coming to the Disney Wish; Aladdin! While this show was not quite ready to premiere during the Maiden Voyage, you can bet that we are ready to book our next passage when this show makes its debut.
Instead of Aladdin, Guests aboard the Maiden Voyage were treated to a fabulous concert by Disney Legend, Jodi Benson! This was one of the highlights of my cruise experience and something that I will never forget!
Now that we have covered the amazing shows that take place within the Walt Disney Theater, it’s time to look at the other entertainment opportunities aboard the Disney Wish! The Walt Disney Theater is the main performance venue onboard, but there are two separate theaters to entertain Guests as well.
Wonderland Theater and Neverland Theater
Set up like intimate movie theaters, these areas provide another area onboard where Guests can indulge in Disney entertainment. While we did not attend any showings during our voyage, we definitely spent some time admiring the intricate artwork and details outside of these theaters!
Character Interactions
Meeting the Disney characters is always an entertaining experience, which is why I’m including them in this round-up! From Disney Princesses to Mickey and Minnie, there is someone special for every Guest. Of course, we took the opportunity to meet with as many characters as possible during our time onboard! While characters are still not hugging or signing autographs, you can still have an amazing interaction with each and every one of them.
Hero Zone
For those Guests who are looking to get their heart pumping and adrenaline racing, they definitely need to check out Hero Zone! During most hours, this space works as a gymnasium with basketball courts and other fitness opportunities. However, during select times, this space transforms into an inflatable obstacle course that guests of all ages can enjoy!
Located on the upper deck of Hero Zone, Guests can find classic games like shuffleboard and air hockey.
As you can see, there are endless entertainment opportunities aboard the Disney Wish! Guests can delight in Broadway style shows, character interactions, and Hero Zone fun! All of this on top of Oceaneer Club, shopping, dining, bars and lounges, and more – the Disney Wish takes vacationing and cruising to the next level.
