Bowers Museum in Santa Ana, California currently houses the fabulous Inside the Walt Disney Archives: 50 Years of Preserving the Magic Exhibit! Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, the museum decided to temporarily close until further notice. Luckily for us, Bowers Museum has decided to digitize much of the incredible exhibition for us to view remotely!

The full Walt Disney Archives, located in the studio lot in Burbank, is intended to document Disney’s history as it is happening and inspire dreamers of all ages to believe in magic! Unfortunately, the Walt Disney Archives is not open to the public. Luckily, this exhibit is a great way to get a glimpse of the magic! This is a fun activity to enjoy with Disney fans of all ages! Plus, it would be a great way to learn more about the magic of Disney!

The fabulous 10,000 square foot exhibition originally premiered at the D23 Expo in Japan in 2018. Bowers Museum, however, has access to a few rare items that are exclusively on loan to them! This exhibit features over 400 objects like original artwork, costumes, and props. These incredible pieces help to tell the inspiring stories of the Archives, The Walt Disney Company, and Walt Disney himself! Items on display range from classic sketches for Fantasia and Haunted Mansion ghouls that have never been seen to modern superhero costumes and sculpture models from Frozen! No matter what piece of Disney history is your favorite, you’re sure to find something you will love in this Walt Disney Archives Exhibit!
