Disney Parks Blog brings us one step closer to the newest ship from Disney Cruise Lines with lots of reveals this past week. Get ready to sail on the Disney Treasure this holiday season. This brand new ship will be making a splash with 7 day itineraries alternating from East to West Caribbean.
After a Christening Ceremony in New York City where we got to see an amazing display of drones on top of the Disney Treasure the ship is now down in Florida ready to welcome press, cast members and lucky ones who will get to sail prior to the inaugural sailing. Disney Cruise Lines is just making sure everything is running perfectly for the first official cruise. I would gladly volunteer for any of that if I didn´t have a reservation with my fellow Disney Fashionistas already, we will be bringing you all the details when we get on board this January 2025.
Let´s dive into some of the spaces and details revealed for us this week by the Disney Parks and Disney Cruise Line blogs. There is a lot of information so get ready for a wild ride.
Disney Treasure Great Hall
The first impression in every ship of the Disney Cruise Line float is one that will set the mood for your entire voyage and the Disney Treasure welcomes its guests with the Grand Hall – a palace on the seas. The Grand Hall embodies the ship’s theme of adventure and draws on real-world influences from Asia and Africa, as well as the enchanting land of Agrabah from the Walt Disney Animation Studios film, “Aladdin.”
As part of the Disney Cruise Line tradition, each vessel has a unique character statue that brings the ships theme to life. At the heart of the Grand Hall is a life-size bronze statue of Aladdin, Princess Jasmine and Magic Carpet, right at the base of the grand staircase. Surrounding this iconic statue, are even more details found throughout the Grand Hall that are inspired by “Aladdin” and represent the film’s spirit of adventure. Nearby the statue, you’ll spot the magic lamp. The Grand Hall’s intricate carpet evokes the fountain in Jasmine’s courtyard and also features animals you’ll see in the film including Aladdin’s mischievous monkey sidekick Abu, Jasmine’s birds, the golden scarab beetle, and more.
Imagineers decided to add a special place for the magic to happen in the heart of the ship. Disney Treasure is a sister ship of the Disney Wish (part of the Triton class offerings of Disney Cruise Lines) so you can see that the Grand Hall also becomes a dynamic theater that offers incredible entertainment experiences, character encounters, and interactions with special storytellers – the Treasure “Sea”kers – who perform short retellings of classic Disney stories.
Now, there is more magic in other spaces of the Disney Treasure like the restaurants and we need to walk you through all of them too.
Celebrate la familia at Plaza de Coco
One of the rotational dining experiences unique to this ship will be Plaza de Coco, where cruisers will get to experience the world’s first theatrical dining experience themed to the Pixar Animation Studios film, “Coco”. As part of your itinerary, you will get to take part in two distinct, celebratory evenings at Plaza de Coco, where live music and special appearances by beloved characters will bring the story of Miguel and the Rivera family to life, right where it left off on screen. Get ready for evenings filled with song and Mexican Folklore!
You and your familia are invited to gather at Mariachi Plaza in the fantastical town of Santa Cecilia for two colorful, music-filled theatrical dining experiences with live performances that feature favorite characters, including Miguel, Abuelita, Mamá Imelda and Héctor. Everyone from this blog is excited to see Miguel as a face character, singing and playing his guitar on night two of Plaza de Coco while we celebrate the Dia de los Muertos.
Disney Cruise Line went the extra mile as always in terms of food and they brought us a festive lineup of family favorites and Mexican-inspired fare paired with delicious, themed drink options including Abuelita Elena Shrimp Diabla, Luisa’s Pollo Asado and for something sweet, Mexican Chocolate Tart.
As for what to expect in terms of the restaurant, the vibrant venue pays homage to the film, including the Rivera family’s Ofrenda, featuring family photos and marigolds. Imagineers also created colorful papel picado inspired by the motifs in Mexican folklore, music, and floral elements.
In honor of the Rivera family shoemaking business, the space is also decorated with shoes and traditional shoemaking equipment. I cannot wait to see this space come to life since Coco is absolutely one of my favorite movies and as a Mexican, I feel like it is a beautiful love letter to my country. I am sure Plaza de Coco won´t disappoint.
Be ready to die for the Haunted Mansion Parlor
One of the most anticipated spaces inside the Disney Treasure is the Haunted Mansion Parlor. Here you will find spirited craft cocktails in a frightful lounge that resembles a first-class drawing room you would see on a classic cruise liner. And this one-of-a-kind lounge draws inspiration from the original Haunted Mansion, with a nautical twist, where guests are invited to the ghostly realm of a jovial sea captain and his strange, but captivating fiancé. You´ll definitely want to hurry back (bonus points if you read that in Little Leota´s voice).
The Haunted Mansion Parlor is full of eerie experiences and design elements, including portraits that shift to reveal secrets of the captain and his bride-to-be, a mysterious aquarium with ghostly fish, and more frightfully fun details to discover. If you look near the fireplace, you’ll spot a statue of celebrated Disney Imagineer Rolly Crump that includes several tributes to his idea for a “Museum of the Weird,” including a melting face that resembles the “Candle Man,” his very first idea for the museum.
For those of you with a home aesthetic that, ahem, screams “haunted ship,” you’re in luck! The Haunted Mansion Parlor will also offer exclusive merchandise, from commemorative mugs inspired by The Mariner and the captain’s fiancé to a nostalgic Haunted Mansion clock. These are all perfect keepsakes for Haunted Mansion fans you can take home from the parlor. I will be taking them both with me for my Tiki mug collection, they are so well designed.
And, a ghost may even follow you home on your voyage … The Haunted Mansion Parlor mirror will offer a frightening surprise when the famous hitchhiking ghosts mysteriously appear in the frame. Honestly, I may stay and haunt this place for my entire cruise experience, it is definitely a work of art from Disney Imagineering. Since our first glimpses of costumes and details at the D23 we have been eagerly awaiting for this place to materialize.
Join the Skipper Society only at Disney Treasure
Inspired by the iconic Disney Parks Jungle Cruise attraction, Skipper Society honors the trusty, dry-witted skippers that turn each voyage at Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort, and Tokyo Disneyland into a hilarious adventure. As a fellow Society of Explorers and Adventurers honorary member, this fashionista is ready to cheer everyone here at the sounds of Kungaloosh!
While sipping from a clever craft cocktail menu or sampling a signature waffle treat, guests will hear an array of Disney Parks music, including spiels from beloved Jungle Cruise attractions around the world… like, the backside of water! O2H! O2H! We cannot wait to be a part of this immersive experience while on board a Disney Cruise of all places.
The venue sits beneath a canopy of tropical foliage and is decked out with camp-style furnishings in natural colors. You can find references to the famous attraction throughout the space, from whimsical parrot-shaped chandeliers to postcards brought back from travels abroad. And fun fact: the green and red tones depicted on the walls of Skipper Society are exact color matches to the Jungle Cruise attraction marquee at Disneyland. Talk about thinking of every single detail by Disney Cruise Lines.
We hope you are as excited to book a cruise on the Disney Treasure as we are here at the Disney Fashionista blog. Disney Cruise Lines always surprises us with fantastic details in every corner of the ships that make the magic come true for every family that sails on them. Get ready to sail on the Disney Treasure this holiday season or any time in 2025 as part of the inaugural itineraries. There´s still time to write a letter to Santa and wish upon a star to make it happen.
