As a School Social Worker, there is one thing that I know a lot about: Fidgets. I have seen my share and have tested out way more than I can count. During my investigation, I have found that the best fidgets serve more than one purpose. This made me interested in these Disney Fidgets and happy to give them a spin.
I am no stranger to a Disney themed fidget. In fact, last year one of my students gave me several Disney Princess Stress Balls, which immediately went into my private fidget stash. I was, however, surprised by this new take on the classic fidget that we discovered while exploring the parks. There are two characters to choose from. The first is Pooh Bear, who looks kind and inviting. Ready to welcome you with open arms and a big hug.
The second option is Mickey Mouse, who looks just as supportive and kind as Pooh.
At first glance, you might wonder, “How are these fidgets?” because they look more like plushes, but that only adds to the toys’ appeal. Both Mickey and Pooh’s legs and arms can be pulled in and out. Additionally, certain parts of their bodies are made with textured materials that may be more appealing to individuals with sensory processing issues.
While the fidget aspects of the toys make them appealing from the start, I think that their plush-like qualities push them over the edge. All too often, I have found, when my students are having a bad day, they just need something to hug or snuggle with. They may have a hard time doing that with a person. Or might not be able to while they are at school. A soft fidget, like Mickey and Pooh, gives them that option. Which is something that they wouldn’t get from your everyday, run-of-the-mill fidget.
