I don’t know about you but, when I heard the news of Downtown Disney becoming Disney Springs, I was not exactly excited. I loved the way Downtown Disney was set up and all that it had to offer. Now that Disney Springs is coming along, and with the official opening of the Town Center, I have been convinced this was an awesome change. I knew the old layout like the back of my hand but the new layout is a little confusing. I’m here to offer you a guide to shopping and eating at the new Disney Springs!
We had previously shared how to have a girl’s night out at Disney Springs but there is so much more you need to know. You can literally spend a full day, if not longer, at the new Disney Springs. As fashionistas, and as readers of this blog, I am assuming you are also shoppers. Shopping at Disney Springs has taken on a whole new meaning with the massive expansion. It used to be that you had Disney shopping in the Marketplace and a few specialty boutiques at West Side. Well, there are 4 areas now and each one has shopping and food that deserve to be explored!
If you are looking for Disney items, whether that be souvenirs, artwork, home decor or even candy, Marketplace is still where you need to be. For the most part, Marketplace has remained unchanged in terms of shopping. World of Disney and Marketplace Coop remain my absolute favorites with Tren-D coming up right behind them.
You are probably all quite familiar with the Marketplace so I will move on to the next area now known as the Town Center. I found it quite amusing that on the map of Disney Springs there is a section listed as SERIOUS SHOPPING. Almost all the shops listed are in the Town Center! That should tell you something about this area. It’s a shopaholic and fashionista’s dream! I will say that the majority of the stores in the Town Center will remind you of shopping in the higher end stores at the mall. It should also be noted that they don’t necessarily carry Disney items. Kate Spade does carry some of the Minnie Mouse collection that was released but, as of this moment, most of the stores do not have a Disney fashion collaboration… as of yet.
The next area of Disney Springs is The Landing. Some of you may remember this area a long time ago when it was Pleasure Island. You wouldn’t even recognize it now! It’s had a total and complete overhaul and it is a happening spot. If you are a shopaholic, there are a few shops to check out but I would say they fall into the specialty store category. There is a store that specializes in shaving! If you need flip flops there is Havaianas and if you need a hat there is Chapel Hats. Other than the odd boutique or kiosk, this area is more of an entertainment and dining area. That’s what Pleasure Island specialized in, too, after all!
Some of my favorite dining options are in The Landing! I love the Hangar Bar and Morimoto Asia is incredible for not only the food but the atmosphere. You will find The Landing has a lot of table service options, which you may enjoy after a long day of shopping!
The West Side continues to be the home of amazing entertainment like Cirque Du Soleil, DisneyQuest and Splitsville Luxury Lanes. There are some boutiques worth checking out, as well. Something Silver, Sunglass Icon and, if you are needing a Disney fix and don’t want to walk all the way to Marketplace, there is Disney’s Candy Cauldron! Of all the choices of food in the West Side, I would recommend the food trucks. They are fantastic and a special treat. You can also grab and go so that you don’t have to interrupt your shopping!!!!
I hope this helped blend the old and the new of Disney Springs into a way that can be helpful on your next shopping excursion to the area. It’s truly a shopaholic and fashionista’s dream! Entertainment and food intermingling with a variety of shopping… and Disney!
