To get ready for your Disney trip, whether it’s Disneyland, Walt Disney World, or a Disney Cruise, there are six important yet simple steps you should take to prepare your phone. Just follow the tips below to prepare your phone and you will have your phone ready for your Disney trip.
#1 Clear Space
Drop what you’re doing and make space on your phone right away! This is my #1 tip for preparing your phone for Disney. You’ll be creating countless memories, and you definitely don’t want to encounter the dreaded “out of space” notification that so often pops up when you’re pushing your phone’s storage to the limit!
Imagine this: you’re enjoying a perfect moment at Disney, and then suddenly, you run out of storage! AHHH! Don’t let this happen! Prepare your phone in advance to avoid it!
Start by transferring photos from your phone to your computer or cloud drive. Personally, I use OneDrive, which automatically uploads all my photos. You can choose Apple iCloud or other cloud products. It has been a huge lifesaver for me! You can also consider getting a flash drive like this one from Amazon, which is way cheaper than a regular drive.
#2 Disable Auto-Connect or Use a VPN
In various public places, including Disney, you can encounter fake Wi-Fi networks. To prevent you from becoming a victim of such a hacker attack, you should disable the automatic connection on your iPhone or Android.
Another accessible way is to use a reliable VPN. If your provider has a double VPN, even better, since such protection is more reliable. The idea is that a VPN server chaining is created, which consistently passes your data and prevents any risks to your data. One of the VPNs known to us where this function is available is VeePN. A good VPN will allow you to freely use any public Wi-Fi network.
#3 Download My Disney Experience App
Downloading the My Disney Experience app to your phone is a must! After creating an account, you can easily link your theme park tickets and Disney Resort by clicking on the three lines at the bottom right of the app, scrolling down to “Link to Account,” and following the on-screen prompts. Voila, you’re all set!
When traveling with family or friends, adding them to your Family & Friends list within the app is incredibly helpful. This allows you to effortlessly plan together, including park & dining reservations, Genie+ selections, and more.
To add a family member or friend to your list, simply scroll down and click on My Profile, then on Family & Friends List. The app offers three options for adding a guest. Start by clicking on “Add a Guest,” then you can either enter their name and age or scan their linking code (generated once they create their Disney account) to add them. Alternatively, you can connect guests through the app.
#4 Take Pictures of the Important Things
Clear your phone and capture images of crucial documents. I always photograph the identification pages of our passports, along with the backs of our park tickets. In case of loss or theft, having these pictures can facilitate the resolution process. Take pictures of other items such as health insurance cards, contacts, and credit card contact information.
#5 Power Up
An external battery pack becomes another essential phone accessory. Hours spent at the park inevitably drain our phone battery due to extensive use: capturing photos, and videos, and utilizing various apps. Throughout the day, we tend to exhaust three full charges. Consequently, we always carry at least one battery in our park bag to avoid returning to the hotel for a recharge. We possess batteries of different sizes and powers—a full charge option, as well as one capable of multiple charges. These batteries can be found at any electronic store or on Amazon.
#6 Use Waterproof Phone Case
If you plan on visiting Disney World, you’ll likely encounter our Florida notorious rain. Even if you’re not heading to Disney World, chances are you’ll still be spending time near a pool or body of water! Ensure the safety of your $800+ phone by getting an affordable waterproof phone case.
When preparing your phone for Disney, it’s crucial to have a waterproof phone case. Although the new flagships are water-resistant, it’s better to be safe than sorry! You’ll need your phone to update your social media, capture moments, and stay in touch with loved ones back home. We strongly recommend investing in a waterproof phone case. It provides an extra layer of security and protection for your phone during all your Disney adventures!
Conclusion
