I was shopping online and saw something I wasn’t sure if I was really seeing. I mean, these aren’t actually branded by Disney so could they be real? I did a little investigating and found that they are real but they are definitely courtesy of LA Splash Cosmetics and not Disney. Let me show you why people are going crazy for them, including me, and what the company is saying about the collection.
Here they are, ladies. Now, people are calling these Princess lipsticks but they are clearly not all named after Princesses. Alice and the Evil Queen? Esmerelda? Infamous Disney Characters, yes! Princesses, no. I am not quite sure how Disney is taking this, considering there must be a some type of trademark but, since it would appear they aren’t advertising them as Disney Princess lipsticks, I am guessing they are safe.
You may be wondering how they can be named after some obvious Disney characters, if they are not branded by Disney. I found a quote on Refinery29 from the CEO of the company that produces Splash. Check this out:
“We did not name our colors based off Disney Characters. Our customers are the ones whom connected our lippies to their favor [sic] characters. We just thought the names we named our lippies were cute.” He went on to say, “Our creative team named the colors based on their intuitive instinct and emotion, like a parent would name their child.”
Seriously? I am not so sure I believe it but I guess that is irrelevant. These lipsticks are all the rage right now. People are going nutso over them! These are part of their Studio Shine Lip Lustre cosmetics and are $14 each. I noticed one was sold out online but that’s it , thus far. I can imagine, with all the hype they are getting, that they will sell out rather quickly, as word spreads.
This photo was posted on their Instagram site, to show how the colors look on skin. They are definitely fun and vibrant and I would positively kill for half of them. I have never used their products, though, and I am not sure if they are as good as they look. The pigmentation certainly looks on point, though. If you want to see them on actual people, check these pictures out on Cosmo’s site!
