It wasn’t too long ago that everyone’s favorite Disney icon turned 90 years old. Of course I’m talking about the one and only Mickey Mouse! Fan and fashion designers are still celebrating and last week Mickey was the star of opening day of Shanghai Fashion Week.
Fifteen Chinese designers drew inspiration from Mickey Mouse to create unique and one of a kind designs. These fifteen designs show how versatile Mickey can be! The fashion ranges from over-the-top avant-garde, to totally wearable street style, to beautiful evening looks. All of the designs are shown above, but I want to share a closer look at some of my personal favorites from the runway.
I love this feminine take on Mickey Mouse! The sketch-book style design is perfect for highlighting the different takes on Mickey’s personality and progression through the years. The white and ivory color palette is perfect for any spring soiree.
All Comes From Nothing
This beautiful evening gown will definitely make you the Belle of the ball! I am loving the shimmery rusty red color of this dress. It features a silver toned Mickey icon belt and whimsical ruffle details.
Hán Lù Lù
This dress reminds me of Valentine’s Day! The base of the dress is a pretty soft peach color and feature a pop-art image of Mickey Mouse in black and white. The bright red heart-shaped balloon add an element of interest to this dress and makes it look as if Mickey is about to take flight from the garment.
Now you can be the Big Cheese in this striped power suite! The bold black and red stripes demand authority, while the images of Mickey scattered across the jacket and pants adds an element of fun.
I love a gray color palette, so of course I’m swooning over this feminine street wear look. Some of the recent Disney street wear styles we’ve seen are a little too hard for me. But this outfit features lace, ruffles, and flowers! Yet it’s still totally cool and perfect for any Big City adventure.
Of course I had to give a nod to some of the men’s fashion as well. This over sized jacket is really cool and perfect for the Disney guy who isn’t afraid to take a fashion risk. I love the comic book style design on the bottom of the jacket!
What do you think of the Mickey Mouse inspired designs from last week’s Shanghai Fashion Week? Do you have a favorite look? Let me know what you think in the comment section below.
