Hollywood Studios has received some serious changes and updates over the last few years. The Sorcerer’s hat was removed as the park’s icon, Toy Story Land is getting ready to open this summer, and construction of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is well under way. But one of the changes that hit me hardest was the closing of one of my all-time favorite attractions: The Great Movie Ride. To me, The Great Movie Ride embodied the spirit and personality of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It was an attraction that took guests on an adventure while showcasing the magic of classic and beloved films. Appearing as Sorcerer Mickey in one of his most famous roles, Mickey Mouse makes a grand entrance at the top of the design, complimented by special appearances of our favorite nanny, Mary Poppins, our cowboy friend, and the gangster’s getaway car. This tank top also included design elements mimicking the classic Hollywood style of the Chinese Theater with lantern accents and palm trees from Sunset Boulevard that overlook the Hollywood Hills sign. “The Stuff Dreams Are Made Of” appears in Art Deco typeface, which is a signature of the vintage era of Hollywood that appears throughout the ride. The color scheme matches the sunset over Hollywood as we celebrate the final days of a Disney World classic.
I recently wore this tank top to Hollywood Studios and I was stopped by multiple Cast Members who loved the design! Mickey Mouse even gave me his stamp of approval! As I met Sorcerer Mickey at Hollywood Studios, he pointed to my shirt, gave me a big thumbs up, and made the sign of crying. I assured him that I was very excited for the new attraction going in its place (staring Mickey and Minnie in their very own adventure), but we still commiserated together on the passing of this beloved attraction.
This shirt is made of thin, breathable fabric, so it’s the perfect choice to keep you cool while you explore Sunset Boulevard and more! I also really appreciated the vivid colors throughout the design and how well they stood up to multiple washings. This tank top does run small, so I suggest sizing up.
