High fashion meets the muppets, but it’s not Miss Piggy who is getting the fashion attention this time! The new Kermit x Sandro Fashion Collaboration stars none other than our favorite green muppet frog!
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Sandro has a new women’s capsule collection, and even an inaugural set of kids’ designs! These designs will be highlighted for a 10-day run kicking off Oct. 1 at South Coast Plaza. As we’ve said the collection will star the one and only, Kermit the Frog.
“I’ve been a huge fan of Kermit and all of the Muppets for many years,” says Evelyne Chetrite, founder and creative director Sandro. “I watched the show as a child on TV and now my children follow them on Instagram. We have different reference points, but we all love their spirit, joy and fun attitude.” Chetrite explained, “we embroidered, knitted or printed his images on pieces including knits, T-shirts and accessories mixed with Sandro’s vintage-inspired and androgynous aesthetic.”
Kermit had his own take on the new collaboration:
“As a frog who usually works naked, it’s not every day I get to be part of a high-fashion collection,” Kermit says. “I really enjoyed going to Paris and working with Evelyne and her team at Sandro, who not only created wonderfully fun fashion, but repeatedly saved me from becoming an appetizer at Cafe Cuisses de Grenouilles.”
The collection will showcase over 30 pieces for women and 5- to 10-year-olds. There will be accessories, and apparel, as well as sneakers! The collection will be on full display in Costa Mesa, California, on the second level of South Coast Plaza. There will also be a pop-up inNew York’s SoHo neighborhood, these will be the only locations customers can shop the collection in person. The collection will retail for $72 to $424, and also be available on Sandro’s e-commerce site.
This high fashion Kermit x Sandro collaboration is set to make it’s debut October 10th at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, California. What do you think of this new Muppets inspired collection?
