Today at D23 Expo 2017, experts announced EXCLUSIVE upcoming styles and toys.
NYLON’s Senior Fashion Market Editor Marissa Smith was in the house. She said she wears a Mickey tee to the NYLON office at least once a week and “[she’s] really proud of that.” She applauded Disney for being the “mecca” of inspiration for fashion collections, noting how there is something for everyone, at every price point. Of the recent Disney collections, the Kenzo Jungle Book was amongst her favorites.
Ashley Eckstein of Her Universe grew up in Florida and naturally was always surrounded by all things Disney and thus a love for Disney was harbored. “I love how Disney brings people together. It’s like we are all friends here!” she said.
Eckstein showed up to the panel wearing her D23 fit and flare Minnie Mouse dress. She offered EXCLUSIVE details on her upcoming designs which will be available at The Dress Shop on Cherry Tree Lane at Disney World.
Marvel designs feature a varsity-like sweater, “I Love Lucy” style dress (as Eckstein dubbed it), and a polka dot (shield) pullover sweater that is more practical than it is costumey because, as Eckstein says, “Being a fan is a lifestyle.”
Star Wars designs pay homage to Princess Leia and the late Carrie Fisher with the Leia caped coat, fully embroidered coat, and puffer vest.
Other sketches for her Alice in Wonderland doormouse-inspired designs were shared.
Eckstein drew inspiration from the parks, too. Teaming with Ashley Taylor again, they created some whimsical wear.

She shared images of her Haunted Mansion, Frontier Land, and Fantasy Land. Frontier Land and Fantasy Land are part of a capsule collection with each land commemorated.
