In the past week or so I have received a few messages inquiring about whether or not there would be a Dooney and Bourke for the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend. Sadly, I am not privy to that information so I had to do a little digging. What I learned makes me very sad. There will be no Dooney and Bourke bags to commemorate the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend.
This news comes from straight from the source. Steven Miller stated this on Disney Parks Blog. The why, however, remains a mystery.
I am going to hazard a guess. For the last couple of Disneyland runDisney events, we have seen many of the designs appear at the outlets on sale (not the beloved Tinker Bell ones, of course), as they did not sell well. Could this be the reason? Could it be that the licensing for Pixar was not as easy to obtain for Dooney and Bourke in the time frame needed? I honestly don’t know the real reason but it makes me sad.
Many fashionistas (myself included) run the runDisney races for a few reasons… merchandise included. I have commemorated both the events I have run with a Dooney and Bourke and I was hoping to do the same for the next one I am secretly plotting to run. I was excited to see what the potential of a Pixar inspired Dooney and Bourke bag would look like, as I stated in the reveal article for the merchandise for the Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend.
What do you all think the reasoning is, fashionistas? Keep in mind, this is all speculation but I am curious as to what your thoughts are. Let us know in the comment section below!
