At the most recent D23, Disney restored the exterior of Walt Disney’s plane Mickey Mouse One. It was featured at the expo along with other plane paraphernalia from Walt’s life. Along with it came merchandise! It was through this collaboration between Amazon and Loungefly that we first saw the Pilot Mickey Loungefly backpack. Spring forward to April 2024, Loungefly announces an upgrade for Minnie! Prepare for Take Off with Captain Minnie!
I love seeing more and more women pilots flying through the airport. The introduction of Minnie as Captain is perfect timing coming on the heels of Women’s History Month. Loungefly on Instagram teases with a group picture of the collection. Looks like we’ll see a backpack, zip-around wallet, and pin.
Minnie dons a red uniform with pink trim. Just because she wears a uniform hat doesn’t mean she has to go without a bow! Her trademark ear accessory accompanies the wings on her hat and her lapel. I adore the pink lining of the backpack. An all-over collage features Minnie’s head and wings intermixed with plane silhouettes with clouds and Mickey and Minnie heads. The design accents continue on the back of the bag and aircraft zipper pull!
