Character breakfast is one of my favorite ways to start off the perfect Disney vacation. I have a favorite character meal, as I’m sure we all do, but I am now very confused. Breakfast à la Art with Mickey & Friends at Topolino’s Terrace at Disney’s Riviera Resort is so incredible that I think I have changed the order of my character breakfast list!
I love that the kitchen is an open kitchen so that I can watch all the action with my food while enjoying all the action with the characters!
Let’s start with the heart of the character breakfast, the characters! Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy are the characters you will find at this breakfast but not in any attire that we have seen before. Mickey is a painter, Minnie is a poet (and ultimate fashionista), Donald is a sculptor and Daisy is a ballerina. The costumes are truly outstanding. (FYI- In the video below I say there is Goofy but clearly I had not had my coffee yet).
Let’s talk food. A selection of yummy pastries and sides are brought to the table in a painters pot to start things off. The pastries were delicious and, if you love croissants, you will be delighted to find them amongst the selection. They are served with housemade strawberry jam, Nutella and honey butter (delish!).
The juice served is the Riviera Sunset which is one of my favorites and known elsewhere as POG juice.
There are many alcoholic beverages to choose from if you are wanting to celebrate. I had a Classic Bellini while my friend had the Riviera Bloody Mary. Both drinks were super yummy! You can even add a floral element to the classic bellini or mimosa!
For the main course, I opted for the sour cream waffles, thanks to the recommendation of my server and she did not steer me wrong. The waffles were light and fluffy and they were served with roasted apples and chantilly cream. The pièce de résistance, though, was the orange-maple syrup. OMG! This Canadian knows her maple syrup but this concoction made me want to grab a spoon and eat it like soup! It was superb.
The Quiche Gruyere had the perfect balance of egg and flavor of cheese and pancetta in every bite. The crust was flaky and the sides were plentiful. It was impossible to finish the entire meal.
At many character meals, there is a moment when the kids can join in and sing the song and wave their napkins around. This meal is no exception. The song is super catchy and has a very Italian feel. There are motions to go with the song and I was pleasantly surprised to find many of the kids and adults participating. It was outstanding!
If you love the way the characters look, this restaurant is one step ahead of you. You are able to purchase the character plushes wearing the new attire! You can also snag an autograph book with the characters doing their respective art forms.
It is very reminiscent to me of the Bon Voyage breakfast in the way the entire experience is presented. As this was my favorite character breakfast, you can imagine how excited I am to find another breakfast experience similar to it.
All I can say is the characters are lovely, the food is divine, the music is enchanting and the views have me dreaming of days in France. Who could ask for anything more?
Do you love character breakfast experiences while at Disney World? Will you be trying breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace?
