Many of you are quite familiar with Disney Tsum Tsums. You may collect them or just admire them from a far… but you know what they are. Are you as familiar with Hallmark’s small plush version called Itty Bittys? Many Disney fans have strong feelings toward one or the other. I am here to share a bit about each with you and have you settle the great debate. Which one do you prefer? Disney Tsum Tsums or Itty Bittys?
Let’s start with Tsum Tsums because you probably already know quite a bit about these. These were actually first introduced in Japan and then Disney jumped on the band wagon and started selling the toys in 2014. The name comes from a Japanese verb meaning “to stack” which is exactly what they are meant to do. They are stackable (as seen in the second picture) or snuggable (my own word for cuddly), as they come in different sizes. They range in price from $4.95 to $24.95. The Disney Store even has something called Tsum Tsum Tuesday where, on the first Tuesday of every month, a new Tsum Tsum mini plush collection is revealed. Kinda cool, right?
The Disney Tsum Tsums have branched out from just plush toys to other forms, as I showed after the Disney preview event I went to in June. The above are actually lip glosses, in Tsum Tsum form, that are clearly still stackable. They are supposed to make an appearance in the Fall at Target, of all places.
These are Itty Bittys. As you can see, they are not stackable but stand up mini plushes. They are 4 inches tall to be precise. These can be collected or played with, the choice is up to you. There are also larger ones called Itty Bitty Biggys and they are 10.5 inches. There are differences between the collections, aside from the stackable point. There are simply different designs to either Tsum Tsums or Itty Bittys and that means there are different charcters available depending on which mini you want. You could, in essence, collect both so that you could cover all the available Disney characters. The Itty Bittys range from $6.95 to $17.95. The other difference is that Itty Bittys come in a ton of non Disney characters as well.
I am not sure if they were made to directly compete with Tsum Tsums but they certainly do just that. It is difficult to decide which design is cuter. I personally have difficulty making a choice. Which of the 2 do you enjoy more? Do you collect Itty Bittys, Tsum Tsums or both? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below!

I like the animal character Tsum tsums, but I think the human characters look weird. Human Itty Bittys are cuter, IMO.

i find the general quality of itty bittys to be better. They use a lot of patterned felt in the tsum tsums which makes them look cheap, and on the lion from zootopia, his mane under his chin is just fur material, and his suit looks to be rather patchy in colour. if you flip his mane over, you see the back of the material. It should be fur on both sides sewn together. For the price you’re paying, they could at least make it nicer looking. The itty bittys limbs are actual sewn stuffed arms.
