Comic Con is upon us again, and of course, that means amazing fashion.
Wait, what?
That’s right! Each year, Comic Con designers from all different fandoms compete to create one of a kind gowns inspired by film and television. The winning designer from the “Geek Couture” Fashion Show has the amazing opportunity to create a fashion collection with Her Universe for Hot Topic.
Now, we know that both Her Universe and Hot Topic are no strangers to the Disney universe. With amazing collections from Marvel, Star Wars, and Disney, these retailers are no stranger to our Disney styled closets.
Ashley Eckstein is the founder of Her Universe and also the host for the Comic Con fashion event. Each year, Eckstein wears a custom “geek gown” of her own creation. This year, her gown was based on Star Wars Rebels’ Ahsoka Tano, which just happens to be the character that Eckstein voices. But what really has fans doing a double take was what her dress is made from.
Instead of opting for silk, satin, or tulle, Eckstein went with something a little more unusual in the fashion world. She went with LEGOs. I knew I loved this women!
Over 100,00 LEGO bricks were used to make the Ahsoka Tano inspired gown designed by Nathan Sawaya and Andrew Maclaine. Now, we’ve all seen our fair share of duct tape dresses, but this is the first time that LEGOs have been used to design an actually wearable dress!
No word on just how heavy the LEGO dress was, but Eckstein looks flawless rocking it on the runway! Thankfully, her shoes were not made of LEGOs. We all know the pain of stepping on one of those the wrong way!
What do you think of the Star Wars Rebels’ inspired dress worn by Eckstein? Let me know your thoughts on this LEGO creation in the comments.
