Are you as excited for Magic Kingdom’s 45th Anniversary this year as I am? I have been looking forward to celebrating the milestone anniversary in the parks for quite a while, and now I have even more of a reason to be excited.
Yesterday, the Disney Parks Blog released a first look at the artwork created for the 45th Anniversary merchandise that will be released this fall. Creative Manager with Disney Design Group, Cody Reynolds, provides insight into the inspiration behind the art.
“We wanted the artwork to celebrate Magic Kingdom’s entire history since 1971 yet have an overall vintage feeling,” explained Cody. “Artist Jeff Grantio provided much of the artwork for this program. The attraction logos became a big focus for us as they each have such unique and iconic designs. We included opening year attractions like ‘it’s a small world,’ and other more recent additions such as Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.”
The main merchandise logo features icons from each land of Magic Kingdom. I love that they created two different color versions! The blue and red logo is classic and iconic, evoking thoughts of Magic Kingdom’s heritage and history. The pastel logo is bright and fun, perfect for a new and modern Magic Kingdom.
Tinker Bell is featured as the leading lady for the pastel color palette, and everyone’s favorite Mouse is front and center on the blue and red logo.
The artwork will be used as a style guide (logos, character artwork, color callouts, and patterns) by all categories of Disney Theme Park Merchandise and can be applied to various products. I cannot wait to see what they come up with later this year!
I am so excited to see what merchandise will be released in celebration of Magic Kingdom’s 45th Anniversary! I personally love the artwork and designs that they previewed. What are your thoughts on artwork? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
