August 26 was National Dog Day, and Disney Parks Blog made us all swoon with the teaser of their upcoming Disney Dogs pattern. Other than giving a vague release date of “late November,” Disney has kept the details of this collection very quiet. But after talking to a Cast Member at Uptown Jewelers today, we have a tiny bit more information.

The release will definitely happen in late November, but as of now, it is slated to be released only on the Shop Disney Parks App. This has both pros and cons. An app release gives everyone an equal chance at getting what is sure to be a highly sought after bag. On the other hand, many shoppers were frustrated by app crashes and other technical difficulties when the Disney Cats collection was released in the same manner last November. (The Cats collection did appear very briefly at The Co-Op in Disney Springs a few weeks later, but it sold out quickly and was never re-stocked.)

An app release also does not allow for picking of placement, and with this design, placement is everything! We all have our favorite Disney dog (mine is Footstool,) and we want that dog prominently displayed on our bags.

Of course, Cast Members sometimes receive outdated information and Disney has also been known to change their plans at the last minute, but the current news is that this will be an app only release.

How do you feel about bags being available only on the app? Will it affect your shopping habits at all? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
