Experiencing a Disney Cruise as a kid is already a magical experience. Now, The Disney Wish Oceaneer Club offers new and exciting experiences for young Disney cruisers! We explored all of these spaces on the Maiden Voyage of the Disney Wish and we are ready to share the magic with you! Come tour these creative and imaginative spaces with us while you let your inner child shine.
The magic starts before you even enter the club! In fact, you have to fall down the rabbit hole and into Wonderland before you can truly experience all the club has to offer. Children (and adults during specific Open House hours) can slide into the Oceaneer Club via a super fun (and fast!) slide. Parents are able to check in their children in the Grand Hall on deck 3 and then send them “down the rabbit hole” on a twisting slide that lands directly and securely into the central hub of the Oceaneer Club.
You better believe that we took full advantage of this feature during the Open House! Lindsay went down three different times, with petticoats flying!
For those who prefer to keep their feet solidly underneath them, you can enter the club via an enchanting stairway as well. As soon as you reach the bottom, you are greeted by the Chesire Cat, letting you know that you have entered a wonderous world where anything can happen. As an added health feature, as soon as you depart from the slide, you are met with several hand washing stations to use before you even enter the club. I’ll share more about these AWESOME sinks a bit later, but believe me, they are magical.
Once in Wonderland, or the Central Hub, children ages 3 to 12 will enter the captivating worlds of favorite Disney stories. Themed areas including Fairytale Hall, Marvel Superhero Academy, Star Wars: Galactic Cargo Bay, Walt Disney Imagineering Lab, and Mickey & Minnie Captain’s Deck immerse children in spaces specially designed to unlock their imaginations. Each space is filled with endless
entertainment – from storytelling, arts and crafts, and dress-up to toys, games to watching Disney movies. Kids can also have fun with their favorite Disney friends during an exclusive line-up of interactive games and programs where characters don’t just stop by – they stay to play!
Central Hub
Decorated with black-and-white sketches of Disney and Pixar characters, the Central Hub features a stage and its own slate of special shows, activities, and character appearances. Lindsay and I had the opportunity to rock out during a Disney Junior dance party during the club’s Open House.
Also located in the Central Hub is this totally awesome Pixar-themed washroom. I have never been so excited about a washroom before, but just check out how cool this one is and you might understand!
Our favorite Pixar friends line the stall doors while red countertops and blue tiles make this area extra fun. Also, check out these sinks! I mentioned above how cool these sinks are, and they definitely deserve a moment for themselves. You don’t have to worry about proper hand-washing techniques with these sinks. All you need to do is place your hands in the basins, and technology does the rest. From applying soap to rinsing you clean; the entire process is automated. Leave it to Disney to figure out a way to make hand washing fun!
Okay, now that we have danced out our jitters and cleaned ourselves up, it’s time to explore the different themed areas of the Disney Wish Oceaneer Club!
Fairytale Hall
Princes and Princess can immerse themselves in their own fairytales inside Fairytale Hall. This area has so much to discover and makes you feel as if you have walked into one of your favorite Disney films.
With themed areas dedicated to Frozen, Tangled, and Beauty and the Beast, this is totally where I would have hung out as a kid. In fact, I would still hang out here! We were blown away by the attention to detail in each room. Cruisers will love spotting the intricate detail and hidden touches throughout these spaces.
Fairytale Hall is a royal trio of activity rooms where kids will join some of their favorite Disney Princesses and Frozen Queens as they let their creativity shine at Rapunzel’s Art Studio, read and act out stories at Belle’s Library, and test newfound icy powers at Anna and Elsa’s Sommerhus.
Marvel Superhero Academy
Avengers assemble! Marvel fans of all ages will flock to Marvel Superhero Academy to test and hone their own superpowers. In fact, if this was always open to adults, I think this is where my husband would spend the majority of the cruise!
Marvel Superhero Academy is a high-tech Avengers headquarters where young “recruits” will train to be the next generation of superheroes. Helped along by some of their favorite heroes like Spider-Man, Black Panther, Ant-Man and the Wasp, kids can live out their superhero dreams in this sleek and interactive space. I totally wish I could shrink down like Ant-Man and the Wasp to check out all the cool adventures that happen here!
Star Wars: Galactic Cargo Bay
Kids can travel to a galaxy far, far away without even leaving the Disney Wish. Star Wars: Galactic Cargo Bay is an immersive experience that puts kids in the middle of the action. When entering this space, kids become a Creature Handler and are in charge of taking care of some seriously cute, weird, and out-of-this-world creatures. From chirping Porgs to snoozing Loth-cats, kids will have their hands full during this galactic assignment. This mission is so important, that they may even receive some help from Star Wars favorites like Rey and Chewbacca.
Walt Disney Imagineering Lab
Now, it’s time to tap into our inner Imagineer as we enter the Walt Disney Imagineering Lab! Kids can step into the shoes of the creative masterminds behind Disney theme parks, resorts, and cruise ships with hands-on activities and inventive experiments.
The highlight of this space is being able to design and test your own rollercoaster! Kids can create a coaster along the lines of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Space Mountain, or Matterhorn Bobsleds. Then, they can climb into a ride vehicle and virtually ride their masterpiece. During Open House, I definitely saw a dad having a blast with this awesome new experience.
Mickey & Minnie Captain’s Deck
As if all of that was not enough, there is still more to explore in the Disney Wish Oceaneer Club! Next up, it’s time to play at Mickey & Minnie Captain’s Deck.
If you have an energetic toddler that needs to get some energy out, this is the space for them! Now, I was disappointed to learn that this space starts for ages 3 and up. I have a two-year-old that would have a complete blast and lose his mind for this section.
However, the Cast Member here did tell me that they sometimes open the nursery to this area when they need extra space for the youngest cruisers to explore. Personally, I think this space is perfect for ages 2-4, but any kid older than that may feel a bit out of place.
It’s a Small World Nursery
Finally, the last space in the Disney Wish Oceaneer Club is the It’s a Small World Nursery. This space is open for ages 6 months to 3 years old and offers an enchanting nursery experience. The different motifs on the walls are interactive for those who are nearing that 3-year age, while soft spaces and cribs are available for the youngest cruisers.
In my personal opinion, this space is better aged for children 6 months to 1-year old. I think that my 2-year-old would be a bit bored in here and would be better suited to the Mickey & Minnie Captain’s Deck. However, when I cruise with my best friend next year, I’m sure her 9-month-old would love it!
Overall, the Disney Wish Oceaneer Club is a fabulous space for children ages 3 to 12 to enjoy. They can immerse themselves in their favorite Disney stories and worlds, make new friends, and get some time away from family to just be themselves! If you are sailing aboard the Disney Wish, I highly recommend checking out these spaces during one of their Open House hours!
