As a proud Canadian, the news of a fashion makeover this morning made me extremely excited. So much so, that I decided to share it with my fellow fashionistas! It’s a long process to get Mickey and Minnie’s wardrobe approved and giving Mickey and Minnie a fashion makeover with the iconic Mountie uniform is a day I thought I would never see!
According to the Toronto Star, a Canadian company called 2 Blue Ducks, has been in negotiations with Disney and the RCMP Foundation to ensure that the characters and uniform look just right, said Michael Glina, the company’s managing director. Fellow Canadians will understand how seriously we take our Royal Canadian Mounted Police and their uniforms. I can understand that it was a long negotiation to come to terms. I mean, Minnie Mouse’s bow is an accessory that the RCMP does not wear and I am guessing they had issues with it at first. It seems that they came to an agreement, though, based on the picture seen above (credit to the Toronto Star).
These are not going to be available at the Canadian Pavilion at Epcot, as I first thought (or was hoping). They are going to available at airports, souvenir shops and mom and pop shops across Canada. From what I can tell, they are not set to come to the USA. Hopefully, it will be such a huge success that they will also appear at Epcot!
People may be wondering why this is happening now and I am guessing it may have something to do with Canada’s 150th Anniversary next year! Either that, or the fact that both of our favorite mice are having a banner year with fashion collaborations and the whole Rock The Dots movement, that it was just a matter of time!
