By now you have probably heard that Alfred Angelo Bridal has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy liquidation in Florida, where it is based. We have talked quite a bit about Alfred Angelo in the past, as this design house was home to the Disney Bridal collection. In fact, it was just last fall that Alfred Angelo debuted its latest collection on the runway. But sadly, the company has shut down all of its stores nation wide, leaving brides everywhere in an absolute panic. And for very good reason!
Many brides have already put down hundreds of dollars in deposits for wedding and bridesmaid dresses. With the stress of planning a wedding already high enough, now these women have to worry about what they will wear down the aisle. My heart really goes out to these brides. I cannot imagine saying “yes to the dress” only to have the company completely shut down with no warning.
According to USA Today, Alfred Angelo plans to liquidate its assets. In addition, store managers were not alerted to the closure and many stores were locked up for the last time on Thursday with no advance warning to customers or employees. Alfred Angelo has apologized in a statement on their website and provided an email for those who want to check their order status: [email protected].
“We will post additional information regarding the status dresses on this website as it becomes available,” Alfred Angelo posted on their website. “We apologize for the inconvenience and hardship resulting from this event.”
I’m sorry, but “we apologize for the inconvenience” does not even begin to cover what these brides are now going through.
But many local and national bridal stores have been reaching out and helping brides find new dream dresses. For example, David’s Bridal is offering a discount to anyone who purchased wedding or bridesmaid dresses from Alfred Angelo and didn’t receive them. With an Alfred Angelo receipt, customers will receive 30% off wedding dresses and 20% off bridesmaid dresses.
Of course, brides are turning to social media to vent their frustrations. And some are finding help along the way! Many women in bride-to-bride Facebook groups are offering to sell, rent, or gift their own (used) dress to brides in need. And in some cases, brides are finding the exact same dress they previously purchased through Alfred Angelo. Of course, not everyone will be this lucky, but in times or stress, it’s nice to know that people are still willing to help!
I am wondering if this is the end of all Disney Bridal Collections. Will another designer step up to the plate and create Disney inspired bridal collections? Are we not going to have that option anymore? Disney Brides everywhere are wondering this same thing, I am sure.
My heart goes out to all of our Disney Fashionistas who are struggling after this closing. Just know that you will look beautiful on your wedding day no matter what!
