January 22 was National Polka Dot Day, and it just so happened to be the same day that Minnie Mouse got her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! Before she headed off for her Hollywood fun, Minnie stopped by Disney Springs for a fun dance party celebration with all her fans!
Minnie is a fashion icon, and she totally lived up to her reputation at Rock the Dots! She modeled five looks in all! Rumor has it that the lavender gown she wore is the same one she rocked on the opening day of Shanghai Disneyland. It was definitely the most formal of all her looks. While I love Minnie in just about anything, I’m quite partial to her pink dress. Which one is your favorite?
Minnie wasn’t the only Fashionista rockin’ the dots on Sunday; fans of all ages showed off Minnie inspired ensembles ranging from traditional to modern. And of course, Minnie ears and bows were everywhere!
Merchandise was everywhere, too! And let’s face it—did the event really happen if there’s no merchandise to prove it? Event specific merchandise (such as the ornament pictured above) was available as well as a plethora of polka dotted clothing, scarves, bags, tumblers, and more. The big news of the day was the release of the Minnie Mouse Dooney and Bourke collection! Her signature red and white dots deserve their own Dooney, don’t you think? A special Pandora set and complimentary scarf were released along with a limited edition trading pin.
Many stores offered special promotions or discounts for guests wearing dots. Alex and Ani gave out water bottles and had a drawing for a Minnie bangle, MAC gave Minnie lip makeovers, and Coach offered a free gift with purchase.
Even the restaurants and treat shops got into the Minnie spirit with different polka dotted treats and discounts. The Minnie Mousse from Amorette’s Patisserie was absolutely delicious and amazingly adorable! It was my favorite treat of the day.
Several special photo ops were available for this event. The picture frame and button have become event staples, but I was super excited to see the Minnie van up close!
As if the dance party wasn’t entertainment enough, there were also stars to decorate in honor of Minnie getting her star in Hollywood. That shiny red is so glamorous!
This was only the second year of Rock the Dots, but it’s already one of my favorite Disney events! I love the fun and relaxed atmosphere, and the Cast Members in the different shops and restaurants are so excited and energetic. It’s fun for the whole family!
