I am soooo excited to be able to share the latest and greatest merchandise preview with you. I have always loved Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort at Walt Disney world since I was a child. It holds a special place in my heart and brings me back to my first visits all those years ago. When they released the news that they were renovating, well, I was scared. I was scared I wouldn’t feel that same magic when I walked in. I was wrong. The magic is still there. Now, with the release of all this new tiki like merchandise, life just got even better! I love tiki! My best friend’s husband LOVES tiki! I always buy him souvenirs from Disney’s Polynesian Resort when I go (and let’s face it, I go a lot so the man has TONS of souvenirs). I will now be able to stock up on some new, amazing goodies. Let’s check them out!
I’m going to start with the tiki shirts because I have a feeling these will be the first souvenirs I buy. I love to buy matching tiki shirts for father and son, for that friend’s husband, and they wear them on Father’s day. It’s super adorable. I have already purchased all the matching tiki shirts they have but now I can buy these when they are released (hopefully he’s not reading this). This shirt has images from around the resort along with some tiki figurines. The tiki figurines can be found on much of the merchandise, like the above tote and hoodie for women. I, myself, will be buying the light weight hoodie. The resort logo is on the sleeve and Minnie is all decked out in her tropical garb… which I love!!
Let’s move on to the tee shirts. It seems that tee shirts are probably one of the most popular souvenirs from pretty much any vacation anywhere and Disney has created some new looks to help. The Minnie Mouse image from the hoodie can also be found on the above tee. The men’s tee shirt has Mickey, instead of Minnie, and you can see the resort in the background. I like the colors very much.
Let’s move past the fashion, though this is always hard for me to do, and look at other merchandise being released. The picture frame is the perfect design to put those pictures in that were taken at the resort. Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto is not yet open but when it does open there will be a limited edition pin for the grand opening, as well as an open edition pin. Other souvenir items will include a key chain, a toothpick holder (or shot glass for those who aren’t filled by Disney speak), and window decals.
Now, for the tiki mugs!! We buy pretty much all of these for the tiki bar in my friend’s basement. There will be two different mugs, each with the resort’s logo found on the back side, coming to the resort this year. The first two colors for these mugs are shown in the image above. There will be three additional color variations for each mug to be released throughout this year at the resort’s merchandise shops.
The above is the tiki shirt inspired by Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto. I adore it. I don’t know if they will be having matching ones for the munchkins but, if they don’t, this will make a mean birthday or Christmas present for a certain someone. The colors were inspired by colorful tile once used inside Great Ceremonial House which brings me back to the 1970’s and early magic in my life.
This merchandise will start appearing this spring at Disney’s Polynesian Resort Village. The word on the street is that this merchandise will NOT be sold at the Disney Store online. That’s a huge bummer but it just means I’ll have to make an extra trip or two!
What do you think of the new merchandise? Will you be planning your next trip to Walt Disney World any sooner now??? Let us know in the comment box below!
