City Works Eatery and Pour House may be the newest restaurant in Disney Springs, but it is an instant favorite! Located on Disney Springs’ West Side close to the NBA experience, City Works offers an upscale sports bar experience with interesting flavors and an unbelievable beer selection!
Atmosphere
City Works hosted my husband Robert and me for a Valentine’s Day dinner on Friday, and it was fabulous! The building seems so spacious and airy, and we didn’t feel crowded even though the restaurant was quite busy. My husband was quite impressed with the size of the televisions covering the front wall and was excited to learn that you can request which game is shown!
Drinks
The massive television screens are certainly dramatic, but I was even more impressed with the beer and cider menu! There are so many choices! We finally settled on a Cranberry Mojito and Strawberry Lemonade Cider. They were both light and refreshing and perfect date night drinks. City Works also offers an outdoor bar with a take-away option. I’m already planning on grabbing another cocktail for my next stroll through Disney Springs! Starters
Entrees
We started our meal with the Cheese Curds and the Kung Pao Cauliflower. The Cheese Curds somehow managed to taste light and fluffy, which is really hard to do with fried foods! These white cheddar curds were served with a smoked tomato coulis. The smoky flavor was unexpected, and I could not stop eating them! The Kung Pao Cauliflower was spicy and filling and absolutely delicious! I could easily eat this starter as a main entree. As an added bonus, this one is a vegetarian option!
Robert ordered the Smokehouse burger as an entree. This was a monster-sized burger! It was a stack of pulled pork, smoked provolone, barbeque bacon onion relish, Carolina mustard barbeque sauce, and buttermilk onion rings on top of the hamburger patty. Robert loves pulled pork burgers and considers this one of the best he has ever had. He loved the bacon relish and felt that it helped hold together a burger that can sometimes be really messy. The fries were tossed in olive oil and rosemary and were delicious!
Accommodating Dietary Preferences
I have to admit that new restaurants make me a little anxious; I’m a vegetarian with a food allergy, so I tend to stick with restaurants that I know will accommodate me. But there was no need to worry! Our server Nicolas was friendly and helpful and never made me feel as if I was an imposition. The manager Matt also explained that City Works basically has a “from scratch” kitchen, so they are able to accommodate allergies and dietary preferences.
Although you can substitute an Impossible Burger for any of their specialty burgers, I chose to get a selection of sides: Bleu Cheese Mashed Potatoes, Cheesy Potato Casserole, and Lime Queso Fresco Grilled Corn. (Can you tell I really like potatoes?) The Bleu Cheese Mashed Potatoes were excellent! The tangy bleu cheese taste really came through without being completely overpowering. My husband and I both loved the Cheesy Potato Casserole too! The corn was both tasty and really beautiful! Leaving some of the stalk on top made for a dramatic presentation, and the lime queso was delicious! I *may* have eaten a spoonful or two of that all by itself. Desserts
My favorite part of any meal is dessert! I ordered the Peanut Butter Snickers Pie, and it was divine! This dish alone is worth trying out City Works! It was absolutely decadent and gorgeously presented as well. Robert chose the Baked Cookie Dough. It must have been tasty because he slapped my hand away when I tried to sneak a bite!
City Works Eatery and Pour House became an instant favorite with my family. We can’t wait to go back and try some more of the items on the menu–everything looked so good that we had trouble choosing! Robert and I would like to thank Matt, Nicolas, and the entire City Works staff for hosting us! It was a perfect Valentine’s Day dinner, and we felt spoiled in every way! Be sure to check them out the next time you are in Disney Springs. You’ll leave stuffed and satisfied!
