D23 Expo 2019 Offers Fans Two Different Opportunities to Share Their Creativity

Disney fans everywhere are gearing up for the D23 Expo 2019, coming this August to Anaheim, California. Disney fan-atics love showing off their creativity when it comes to all things Disney and this year, the D23 Expo is offering two unique opportunities.

The first way that Expo guests can get involved is through the Mousequerade Costume Contest. Here, guests have the opportunity to show off their creativty by designing a look that is all about their favorite Disney character. There are 5 different categories for costume entry.

Once Upon a Costume – draw your inspiration from the lands of make believe and fantasy as you dress as your favorite character from animation or live-action Disney films.

Worlds of Adventure – from pirates, to Star Wars, to Marvel; the adventure doesn’t have to end once the film credits roll. Show your adventurous side in this costume category.

Heroes and Villains – tackle this category alone or with a partner as you explore good vs. evil in this costume category.

Inspired by Disney – this category offers the most freedom when it comes to expressing your Disney creativity. You can draw your inspiration from anything Disney related! Ride, architecture, foods, parks, history – everything is open game!

Cast of Characters – this category was made with groups in mind! You can your friends/family can dress as the characters from your favorite Disney film. I wonder how many Avenger groups we will see at this year’s event.

If dressing up isn’t really your thing, you can still show off your artistic talents in celebration of the D23 Expo 2019 Design Challenge.

This year’s theme is Haunted Mansion! With Haunted Mansion celebrating it’s 50th anniversary at Disneyland Park, D23 Expo is giving a nod to all Haunted Mansion attractions around the world. Contestants can base their work on the beloved theme park at Disneyland Park or the “spirits” of the Haunted Mansion—including Phantom Manor and Mystic Manor attractions at any of Disney Theme Parks across the world.

Contest entries will be evaluated on the basis of creativity (25%), originality (50%), and artistic expression (25%). Twenty-three finalists will be selected. Their artwork will be displayed in the “dead center” of the show floor at D23 Expo 2019. Finalists will receive two complimentary one-day tickets to attend D23 Expo 2019 on Sunday, August 25, 2019. The Grand Prize winner, second runner-up, and third runner-up will receive a trophy. The Grand Prize winner will receive a prize of $2,300.

Wow! With so many ways for fans to show their creativity, the competition is going to be fierce this year! I can’t wait to see everyone’s costumes and the twenty-three Haunted Mansion inspired pieces this August in Anaheim.
