I have to say, with it being a new month and March’s Beauty & the Beast Disney Bounding manifesta behind us, I am excited to switch it up again every week!
One of my favorite themes is 1920’s jazz and circus theme. I love the fashion and the music of that era. When Britney had her Circus era and Christina had her Candy Man era, I went APE! I love the whimsy of fortune tellers and circus acts. I love the shimmer of performers’ outfits. I love the vintage decor of birdcages and animals. I love the concessions of goodies – cotton candy, popcorn, icees, peanuts, etc.
This week, I have soared to new heights with Dumbo! This look is anchored by a palette of pink and yellows/golds.
Pair a Halston Heritage peony crepe dress (beware: dry clean only) with a grey poncho wrap to echo the palette of Dumbo’s ears, as well as the flowy, billowy nature. Bring out the yellow of Dumbo’s look with Jessica Simpson lemon pumps.
Bring more pop of pink to your ensemble with darling pink & gold frosted pretzel stud earrings. That’s not all for concessions! Step right up for Timothy Q. Mouse’s gold peanut bracelet and a popcorn purse. Dumbo is known for a yellow hat but I opted for a gold feather headpiece because he is known for the Magic Feather that gives him the ability of flight and, really, what could be more circus-centric!? So you look less Showgirl and more Dumbo, I suggest it be worn off to the side.
Between the crepe dress and the poncho, a necklace would not stand out. Since Dumbo is known for his performance-ready colorful ruffle collar, I opted for a white ruffle collar as the “necklace”, again adding elements of circus fun! The collar, along with the varying lengths and textures of the dress and poncho, add depth to this look.
