Continuing on our journey through Fantasy Land, next stop is Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride.
Now, depending on who you talk to, some will say the ride is outdated and not Disney, that they cannot wait for it to be overhauled and turned into the latest greatest of the newer movies like Moana or Frozen (no speculation yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised!). Some say, too, that it’s far too dark in the pits of Hell to be considered a “children’s” ride.
Some will say, on the other hand, that it is such a Disneyland classic that it still holds its place and should maintain its stay (yeah, so much for the Mickey Ferris Wheel being overhauled into the Pixar Wheel).
This Adventures with Mr. Toad look is straight outta a Brooks Brothers or J. Crew catalogue, drawing on notes of prep school and collegiate class. This Disney Bounding look was fun (and easy) to toss together because of my love for the prep aesthetic.
Mr. Toad himself is always seen dressed to the nines as the dapper British frog he is – and so, too, you must be to traverse the streets of London in your 1900s vintage motorcar!
To set the stage of cozy, we flocked to a pairing of a beige chunky cableknit turtleneck sweater and suede camel skater skirt.
Mr. Toad is almost always seen with his classic beret and waistcoat, so top off the look with a green beret and cozy up further with a navy peacoat with military buttons.
Down to the details of classic chic, these Betsey Johnson plaid tights (comes as a 2-pack with black!) and this tartan wrap scarf add an element of pattern to this look while also adding to the color palette. When drafting this look, I knew that a pair of lace-up Oxfords would have to do, but even better – I stumbled on these contrast Oxford lace-ups that make this look anything but ordinary by thinking outside the box.
And what would the look be without a bag to stash all your goodies? The burgundy satchel will make you look the part of a London courier, while also, again, adding further color to the look.
