Disney is shifting into high gear with a brand-new documentary special that celebrates the next generation of women in motorsport! The Pursuit: F1 ACADEMY is racing onto Disney+ on November 19, giving viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the determination, sacrifices, and incredible talent of female drivers working to make their mark in racing.

The new special is part of Disney’s ongoing partnership with Formula 1 and F1 ACADEMY, which has already brought some of our favorite Disney characters into the world of motorsport. Now, Disney is taking that collaboration beyond the racetrack and onto our screens.
A Behind-the-Scenes Look at F1 ACADEMY
For those unfamiliar with F1 ACADEMY, it’s an all-female racing series launched by Formula 1 to help develop talented young women and prepare them for advancement to higher levels of motorsport.
The Pursuit: F1 ACADEMY follows the 2025 racing season, highlighting four talented drivers: Doriane Pin, Maya Weug, Chloe Chambers, and Alisha Palmowski.
Filmed at race locations around the world, the documentary offers an inside look at what it takes to compete at this level. Viewers will see the excitement of race weekends, but they’ll also get a glimpse of the challenges these women face away from the track.
From the pressure of competition to the personal sacrifices required to pursue their dreams, the documentary promises to showcase the determination needed to succeed in a traditionally male-dominated sport.
The special will also feature the teams and leadership helping shape the future of F1 ACADEMY, including Managing Director Susie Wolff.
Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck Are Helping Fuel the Magic
Disney Fashionistas may already be familiar with Disney’s growing relationship with Formula 1! Earlier this year, Disney introduced its multi-year “Fuel the Magic” collaboration, bringing together Mickey Mouse and his friends with the excitement of Formula 1 racing.
The partnership was first unveiled at the Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix in 2026. It later expanded to include F1 ACADEMY at the Canadian Grand Prix, with Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck taking center stage.
I love that Disney chose Minnie and Daisy to help represent this initiative! Both characters are known for their confidence and personalities, making them fitting ambassadors for a program focused on empowering the next generation of female drivers.
The collaboration goes beyond character appearances, combining Disney storytelling, merchandise, and special fan experiences at Grand Prix events around the world.
Now, The Pursuit: F1 ACADEMY adds another dimension to the partnership by sharing the real stories of women working toward their racing dreams.
Joss Hastings, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Disney Consumer Products, explained that the goal is to bring Disney and Formula 1 fans together through products, experiences, and storytelling while celebrating the courage and ambition of these drivers.
Inspiring the Next Generation
While the documentary will certainly appeal to Formula 1 fans, its message extends well beyond racing.
At its heart, The Pursuit: F1 ACADEMY is about perseverance, confidence, and chasing ambitious goals, even when the odds seem stacked against you.
Susie Wolff, Managing Director of F1 ACADEMY, shared her hopes that the documentary will help inspire young women around the world. “Every driver on the F1 ACADEMY™ grid is pursuing a dream,” Wolff said, emphasizing the importance of showing both the successes and setbacks these athletes experience.
It’s exciting to see Disney using its platform to introduce more audiences to these talented women. For young girls who dream of becoming race car drivers, engineers, or working in other areas of motorsport, seeing women competing at this level could make a lasting impression.
When Can You Watch The Pursuit: F1 ACADEMY?
The Pursuit: F1 ACADEMY premieres exclusively on Disney+ worldwide on November 19, 2026, just in time for the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix, taking place November 19–21. The documentary is produced in association with ESPN and will also become available on the ESPN App later this year.
Whether you’re already a Formula 1 enthusiast or simply enjoy inspiring stories about women pursuing their dreams, this new documentary sounds like one worth adding to your watchlist!
