It’s blazing hot outside and most of us are trying to spend as much time as possible by the pool, which of course means we’re all thinking about…CHRISTMAS! Well, Disney is thinking about the holidays anyway, and they’ve announced many events to make your holidays magical!
The most iconic Disney holiday event is Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, starting November 8. This separately ticketed event is full of special treats, character meets, stage shows, a fabulous parade, and a holiday fireworks spectacular! My favorite part of the evening is the “snow” on Main Street. It’s truly magical!
Speaking of snow, A Flurry of Fun is returning to Hollywood Studios! This includes a projection show on the Tower of Terror and Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! on the Chinese Theater. Toy Story Land is getting in on the holiday action as well with seasonal songs on Alien Swirling Saucers. I am really looking forward to seeing Toy Story Land decorated for the holidays.
November 18 brings the International Festival of the Holidays to Epcot. Each pavilion showcases the traditions of that particular country, and as with any good Epcot festival, there will be plenty of treats and spirits to sample. The Candlelight Processional starts on November 22. It features a celebrity narrator, full choir and orchestra, and traditional Christmas story.
Even Animal Kingdom will be celebrating the season this year with the Indian festival Diwali being incorporated into UP! A Great Bird Adventure! This is a cute show on its own, and I’m excited about the new addition.
The fun continues outside of the parks as well! Disney Resorts are especially festive during the holiday season. The Grand Floridian is known for its life-sized gingerbread house, but several other resorts offer over-the-top decorations as well. I love to resort hop and take in the sights during the Christmas season. Disney has not yet announced plans for a Tree Trail at Disney Springs, but I certainly hope that returns! I walked that trail many times last year and found something new and exciting each time.
The holiday season at Disney is a magical time filled with decorations, events, food, and characters. What is your favorite part of Disney during the holidays? We’d love to know, so drop us a comment!
