This year, we are celebrating 35 years of The Little Mermaid. Although to be honest, Ariel doesn’t look a day over 25. To help us celebrate, Loungefly has released the new The Little Mermaid Anniversary Collection. Get it now before it swims away.
Mini Backpacks
The collection has several mini backpacks, with matching wallets, that are perfect for carrying all of your thingamabobs. The first bag is this Life is the Bubbles Mini Backpack. Ariel and Flounder swim around happily as Sebastian leads the underwater orchestra in a sing-a-long. Fish swim all around them as musical notes rise to the top of the ocean. Sebastian also floats to the top of the bag in his little bubble, which bubbles as a tiny compartment, perfect for holding all your change and other small items, like rings and hair ties.
There is even a matching zip around wallet, which can be purchased separately.
The inside of the wallet looks like an accordion, which I think matches the overall theme of these two items well.
Next up is this All-Over Print Mini Backpack. Ariel and her friends are making music under the sea once again. While the background of the bag is black, the fish and underwater flowers are exploding with color, which makes the scene on the bag come to life.
This backpack also has a matching Zipper Pouch Wristlet which works well on days when you want all of the fun of the colorful All Over Pattern but don’t want or need to carry around an entire backpack.
Finally, our favorite sea witch is here to steal your soul, or at least take your money, with this Ursula Sequin Mini Backpack. Ursula dazzles on the front of the bag. If it wasn’t enough that there were sequins all over her outfit, the fact that even her gray hair has sequins will blow you away. There is even glitter in her blue eye makeup. Finally, the gold metal hardware matches her golden necklace.
Like all of the other backpacks in this collection, there is also a matching Ursula Sequin Zip Around Wallet.
I think that the best part of this wallet is the back. Here we see Ursula’s outstretched tentacles wrapped around the back of the wallet. Her sea shell is at the center of the tentacles so that it is nearly impossible for anyone to get their hands on it.
Crossbody Bags and Totes
There are also two crossbody bags and a tote available in the new collection. The first bag is this Sebastian Crossbody Bag. Here we see Sebastian clinging on tightly to his music, ready to lead his underwater choir in another song.
When Sebastian unlocks his hands, we see one of his Horse Fish friends, ready for their solo on the front of the detachable change purse.
The second crossbody bag is the Ariel Crossbody Bag, found here. Ariel has beautiful beach waves. It looks like she just swam out of the ocean. She probably did. The bag is a ruby red color that matches Ariel’s hair. She also has a pretty lilac-color flower that protrudes from the top and side of the bag.
The final bag is a tote. The Life is the Bubbles Glow Tote Bag, found here, has a story to tell. Ursula cackles on the first bottom layer of the bag. Behind the waves on her layer is a small zip-up pouch. Ariel, Flounder, and Sebastian swim together happily on the second layer of the bag. Behind them is an open pocket for slipping things in when you are on the move. Finally, Prince Eric’s castle is at the top of the bag in front of a hopeful rainbow. Scuttle sways from the top of the bag, almost as though he is flying over all of the commotion and watching what is going on.
Clothing
The final category of items is clothing. The collection includes this All-Over Print Tee that matches the All-Over Print Backpack and matching Wallet that we saw earlier. It is hard not to be happy and start singing a peppy tune with this shirt on.
The second clothing item is something a little different. Here we see Ariel & Flounder together on one Little Mermaid Hoodie. Ariel & Flounder each appear on one side of the hoodie. I think that it is really cool that their bodies and hair extend onto the sleeves of the hoodie. There is also another really cool detail. Look closely and you will see that one of the hoodie ties has a fork on the end. I just love Loungefly’s attention to detail on everything that they create.
The hoodie has one final surprise up its sleeves. Turn off the lights and the hoodie will glow in the dark, almost as though you are underwater with Ariel & Flounder.
