Lion King Makeup Collaboration Embraces The Wild Side

By Danielle | Updated on May 10, 2020

The new Live Action Lion King film debuts July 19th! To commemorate this incredible new film, Disney, Sir John, and Luminess have collaborated for a Lion King Makeup collection! Beyonce’s makeup artist Sir John developed the 8 limited-edition cosmetic pieces inspired by the African Landscape & characters from Disney’s The Lion King.

The collection features a range of supernatural neutrals inspired by the African landscape. The rich colors came to him while on safari in Africa. There he was provoked by the raw beauty, like the colors of clay or red brick. Sir John wanted to go with Luminess because of their incredible attention to detail in the packaging, and pigment pays off.

The lipsticks of this collection are mattes but are moisturizing and hydrating. They offer the void of shine that has been hot on the trends, but won’t dry out your lips either. The matte lipstick tubes come in the colors “Lion Mane” (left), and “Pounce” (right). Each are available separately for $24.00.

The two liquid lipstick mattes in “Trouble” (left) and “Be Prepared” (right) were designed to be rich and full of color, and also usable as tints for your cheeks, or eyelids. These both retail for $24.00 a piece.

The tinted lip balm in “Legacy” is a universally flattering shade, that is made for all complexions, and ages! Sir John promises that you can wear this color from 8 to 80. This lip balm pencil also retails for $24.00.

The “I Can’t Wait To Be Queen” palette is rich in pigment and designed to be universal. This color palette easily switches from day to night looks with it’s range of soft natural neutrals, to bold pops of color that can also be found in nature. This 16 shade palette retails for $42.00.

With the “Kingdom” sculpting powder kit Sir John wanted to create something softer than a contouring palette. Sculpting is a softer more organic contoured look. The sculpting palette retails for $42.00.

The “Circle of Life” highlighter was designed to mimic the way the sun naturally hits your skin. It is also designed to complement a wide range of skin tones, which I absolutely love! The highlighter sells for $40.00.

The Lion King Makeup Collection was created as a one-of-a-kind makeup collection featuring highly pigmented formulas with colors curated from the African landscape to create equally stunning day and night looks. The highly-pigmented rich formulas all come together in hand-designed etched packaging, inspired by the iconic scenes and characters from the film. The new collection launches June 15th and will be available on the Luminess website!
